Most of the work in this build is focused on quick settings, where a few annoying issues have finally been cleaned up. One of them was battery share. The quick settings tile had stopped working properly for some users, making it difficult to charge another device wirelessly.
Google has fixed that problem in this release; another fix targets the WiFi menu. Earlier beta versions sometimes left an odd empty gap in the interface. It wasn’t a serious bug, but it made the menu look unfinished. That layout issue is now gone.
Google has also fixed a bug affecting the font size controller. In previous builds, changing text size from quick settings could crash parts of the system. That no longer happens, so the option should work normally now.
Pixel 11 reportedly won’t ship with this beta build
None of these are flashy upgrades, but they make everyday use a bit smoother. That’s probably what matters most this close to the final release. One small surprise is that the upcoming Pixel 11 series is not expected to ship with Android 17 QPR1 beta 7 already installed.
Instead, the phones will reportedly launch with an earlier software version. These fixes are expected to arrive through an update shortly after the devices go on sale. Google has already confirmed its next hardware event for August.
The company has teased a redesigned rear camera setup. While reports also point to a new lighting feature that could be called Pixel Glow. We’ll have to wait until the phones are in hand before pointing out how useful it really is.

Anyone using a supported Pixel phone can install Android 17 QRP1 beta 7 by joining Google’s Android Beta Program. After enrollment, the update will arrive through an OTA update like a normal software release.
Overall, there isn’t a long list of new features here, and that’s perfectly fine. Android 17 QPR1 Beta 7 is more about making the existing experience dependable. with the quick settings bugs fixed and a few rough edges cleaned up, Google’s next quarterly update looks almost ready for its public release.
