It was recently revealed that LG CEO has asked the LG G7 development team to build it up from scratch and probably LG won’t be launching the LG G7 at the MWC 2018 at Barcelona. LG also revealed that they will make some changes in the schedule by not launching refreshed devices, instead they will focus on bringing more variants of the same device.
Now, some recent reports suggested that the upcoming LG G7, which was expected to launch at Mobile World Congress 2018, will be launched later, probably in April and according to a new report from the Korea Herald LG will launch a new device next month. As per the report, it will be a variant of LG’s latest flagship, the LG V30. This new variant will be called the LG V30+α and will come with enhanced AI features.
This is a part of LG’s new strategy to retain providing existing premium phones for a longer period, with some extra features and changes, as its CEO Jo Seong-jin while addressing the attendees at Consumer Electronics Show said, “We need a strategy to maintain the existing platforms longer. The G6 and V30 smartphones are really well-made.”

So, if LG launches the LG V30+α, probably the LG G7 will come after a few months. There is no solid information regarding what exactly LG is planning, neither the company has come out which a roadmap or schedule regarding the time they will launch the new devices. LG had launched the LG G6 and G5 around the MWC Barcelona in the last two years but looks like it won’t be happening this time. So, for now, it’s better to know that LG should launch a device at MWC, something’s better than nothing!
