Nokia 2 goes official with 2-day battery life for €99

HMD Global went on stage today to announce its budget smartphone at an event in India. Nokia 2 went official today after being leaked over the past couple of weeks. It is a basic smartphone possibly targeted at the first time smartphone buyers in markets in India. The company has its focus on the software and battery life for this smartphone.

Over the front, you will see a 5-inch HD display that comes covered with Corning Gorilla Glass 3. Nokia 2 will be shipping with Android 7.1.1 Nougat along with the Google Assistant and HMD Global has promised to push Android Oreo update soon to the device. Not only this, the frame of Nokia 2 is made out of 6000-series aluminium and the phone is splash proof with the IP52 rating.

The company has included a battery of 4100mAh that Nokia says will last for a couple of days of normal use. Nokia 2 is for new smartphone users that are upgrading from a feature phone and will have a minimum use. Hence, the phone comes with 1GB of RAM and is powered by a Snapdragon 212 quad-core processor with Adreno 304 GPU. The internal memory of the phone is 8GB which can be expanded up to 128GB.

It is a dual-SIM phone that supports 4G VoLTE along with WiFi 802.11 b/g/n and Bluetooth 4.1. The Nokia 2 still has the 3.5mm headphone jack along with FM radio. There is an 8MP camera on the back with an LED flash while there is a 5MP one on the front.

Nokia 2 will be available in Pewter Black, Pewter White, and Copper Black colour options when it goes on sale from mid-November. HMD Global has announced a price of €99 which equates to $115 or Rs. 7,465. The Indian pricing hasn’t been confirmed yet and will only be revealed when we near the launch date.
