Chinese smartphone maker Vivo officially unveiled the world’s first phone with an under-display fingerprint scanner, the Vivo X20 Plus UD. The X20 Plus UD has specifications similar to the Vivo X20 Plus, but the highlight of the phone is the under-display fingerprint scanner. The phone features a Synaptics Clear ID FS9500 sensor that was announced quite recently.

The Vivo X20 Plus UD features a 6.43-inch fullHD+ (2160 x 1080) FullView AMOLED display with 18:9 aspect ratio. The phone is being powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 660 octa-core processor, clocked at 2.2GHz, coupled with 4GB of RAM and 128GB of internal storage, which can be expanded up to 256GB via a microSD card.

In terms of the camera, the Vivo X20 Plus UD sports a 24MP rear camera and a 5MP depth-sensing camera for the bokeh effect with an LED flash. The primary 24MP camera supports Optical Image Stabilization (OIS) and on the front as well there is a 24MP selfie camera with an LED flash. This is a bit weird, as TENAA listing showed that the phone will come with a 12-megapixel and 5-megapixel camera combo on the back and a 12-megapixel front-facing camera.

Connectivity options on the Vivo X20 Plus UD include 4G LTE, VoLTE, Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n/ac, Bluetooth, GPS and micro USB. The phone packs a 3800mAh battery, that supports fast charging.

The Vivo X20 Plus UD starts a new era of smartphones where under-display fingerprint scanner will be a new trend and many will follow the phone soon. And as per the recent teaser by Vivo via its official Weibo account, Vivo will be hosting an event in Beijing, China, on January 24 to launch the Vivo X20 Plus UD. The event will start at 7:30 PM CST (5 PM, January 25 IST). However, the teaser doesn’t provide any details, but it is likely to be the Vivo X20 Plus UD as spotted on TENAA.
