LG, like many other smartphone manufacturers, releases two flagship smartphones each year. The first one for 2017 has already been released, and we will be seeing the other one in a couple of years. For the some of you who still haven’t guessed, we’re talking about the LG V30. The V series has been distinctively recognised by its extra screen space, and we will now look at how the next phone in the V series would be like.
During the Google I/O this year, Google mentioned the LG V30 in cryptic words. During the event, Google announced that the next LG flagship that will be launched before the end of this year would be compatible with Google’s Daydream VR.
For the design of the LG V30, @OnLeaks released a video a couple of weeks back that showed the smartphone from all its sides. The tipster has been a reliable source of such renders of many popular smartphones. The renders, however, revealed a lot of details about the smartphone including its screen and camera placement.
If you closely look at the renders of the front, you won’t find any extra screen space like we had seen in the past V series smartphones. Instead, the entire front of the phone has a large bezel-less display as we saw on the LG G6. The top and bottom bezels seem even thinner in these renders. The phone appears to have a metal frame in these renders.
Over at the back, there are dual cameras placed horizontally with LED flash and other sensors placed on the right. The fingerprint scanner sits right below the display. The camera setup is slightly different from the LG G6, but the overall look is the same. An image of LG V30’s back panel leaked today on SlashLeaks also reveal a similar design.
LG is known world-over for its amazing quality OLED panels, but the company never brought one to any of their smartphones, except the LG G Flex. The LG V30 is rumoured to be the first mainstream LG device to come with an OLED display. This will help the device offer show deeper blacks, better contrast, and a much brighter display.
The display size of the phone is also rumoured to be 6 inches and will most probably sport the same 18:9 aspect ratio that the G6 came with. Apart from this, the LG V30 also got listed on the Geekbench which revealed a couple of details. According to the listing, the phone will be powered by a Snapdragon 835 processor, again a first for an LG smartphone, and will be coupled with 4GB of RAM. It also mentioned the device to be running Android 7.1.2 Nougat.
As far as its launch date is concerned, the LG V30 will be launched on August 31st, right before IFA 2017 kicks off. LG has already sent out media invites that show a silhouette of a phone a large ‘V’ in the centre. Other details about the event are also mentioned alongside the said date.
