The upcoming OnePlus 8 series launch is much-awaited thanks to its premium status and the focus on user-deemed features that have marked the company as one of the best in the world. With that being said, OnePlus is getting ready for its next launch on April 14 where it will showcase OnePlus 8, OnePlus 8 Pro and OnePlus 8 Lite (or OnePlus Z) to the world. Marking the upcoming launch, co-founder Pete Lau took to the OnePlus Community to discuss a few specs that the upcoming models will bring on-board.

According to Pete, both software configuration and hardware selection is an integral part of any system’s performance. The company not only integrates the top-in-line hardware components but mixes it up with software optimizations that lay the foundation of its untamed speed.

OnePlus has already confirmed that OnePlus 8 and all models will have a 120Hz Fluid Display. Further, although it was heavily teased, Pete has now confirmed that the upcoming smartphones will have Qualcomm Snapdragon 865 SoC bundled with the latest LPDDR5 RAM and flagship standard UFS 3.0.

Pete further went on saying how Snapdragon 865 is the industry-leading mobile platform (System-On-Chip) that has been improved over Snapdragon 855 which is in itself the best flagship processor available till date. According to the stats, Snapdragon 865 SoC produces 25% higher CPU performance than its predecessor while the GPU rendering has been improved by 25%. Further, the latest chipset is unbelievingly power-efficient i.e. 25% than its predecessor.

The chipset has been improved to produce 40% higher video noise pixel processing power and finally, the Artificial Intelligence (AI) performance has been doubled thanks to the Hexagon 698 DSP that ships with the chipset as well offering 35% better power efficiency.

Pete also confirmed that the OnePlus 8 series will get the latest ultra-fast LPDDR5 RAM which attracts a transfer rate of 6,400Mbps with a bandwidth of 51.2GB/s and finally, a massive 45% decrease in terms of power consumption. Apart from that, the upcoming models will also have UFS 3.0 flash storage which has become a staple of flagship phones this year but there’s a twist. The Chinese smartphone manufacturer reportedly added Turbo Write and Host Performance Booster to enhance the capability of the new RAM.

As Pete points out, it is not just the hardware components but software plays a major role in the overall performance of any smartphone as well. OnePlus’ OxygenOS is one of the best when it comes to efficiency and performance and there’s a dedicated team that works day-in and day-out towards optimizing the software to match up to exceed the standards set by OnePlus while using the full potential of the hardware components.

Finally, the cherry on the cake is the 5G modem that OnePlus 8 and OnePlus 8 Pro (and others) will arrive with once they are released on April 14 at an online launch event where the world will see the new lineup of OnePlus’ flagship smartphones.
