Google Play has a large collection of music apps, some of which offer pretty unique features. Every app developer tries to distinguish their app from the already present apps in the Google Play Store. Music player apps are almost always among the top trending apps. Cloudplayer is an app that works as a music player for all your downloaded music but also lets you listen to online radio. Is the app worth downloading? Let’s find out.

UI

Visual appeal is one of the factors which people consider before downloading the app. The app offers you a choice of themes which you can customize according to your choice. You have an option of four themes, namely Light, Dark, Black and Red.You can also change the default screen between Albums, Artists, Songs, Magic Radio. You can also change the default screen to Video but be careful as this feature is still in beta.

Features

Google Play Music is a great music player but it’s pretty basic. Users usually like to use apps which offer features that distinguish them from the other apps available. The developers of CloudPlayer clearly had this in mind when they created the app as they have added almost all the features you’d expect. The ability to listen to online radios, 10 band Eq, Supersound-a feature which lets you customize your sound with headphones enhancement, Chromecast support etc .The list of features goes on. These features tempted me to continue using the app.

Sound Quality

It’s true that sound quality mainly depends upon the phone and headphones, music player also play an important part in sound output quality. The sound quality is good in low range .The app struggles in high bass and even extra bass headphones had a problem in high bass range when using the app. The 10 band equalizer does its job but I found that the music output is better with the equalizer turned off. The Supersound features is a different story though. The bass booster makes you forget the let down of the equalizer. I found no real use of the other supersound features but if you are someone who likes widening or cross fade effect then you will definitely love this feature.

Nowadays downloading music is considered a thing of the past. Most people prefer to save songs on cloud. The app lets you stream the songs you have saved in Google Drive, Dropbox and even One Drive. This lets you save storage on your phone. The app also has an option to use Wi-Fi only for music streaming, saving your mobile data. You can also save your playlists on the cloud .This is the feature that I saw the app struggle at first. Though an update removed this problem but sometimes I had to create playlist 3 times in a day as I had no connectivity.

Verdict
cloudplayer
Rating: 8.7*

Developing a unique app is always a gamble. The app might be a hit or a miss. Double Twist, the makers of CloudPlayer have also created other unique music players, all of which have been hit. Same is the case with double twist. The app ticks all the right boxes. You can customize it, change the equalizer settings to your liking, stream radio directly, and listen to songs saved on cloud. All these features tempted me to give a five star rating, but then I looked at the battery usage. The app clearly drinks a lot of juice. But for the features. I can’t complain. The basic version of the app is free with 30 day free trial of premium service .According to me the premium service is good and worth a try.
