Along with the MacBook Pro, Apple launched the latest generation of AirPods named as the AirPods 3 at its “Unleashed” event. It is to be noted that Apple was expected that there was no mention of the next generation of AirPods Pro at this event.

So we can expect to see the AirPods Pro second generation at a later event sometime next year. As far as the AirPods 3 are concerned, we can tell you that they have been designed similar to the AirPods Pro.

This is because the stem on AirPods 3 has been reduced from that on AirPods 2. As you might already know, the stem on AirPods Pro is also smaller. The only thing that differentiates the AirPods Pro from the AirPods 3 are the silicon tips.

Also worth noting is that the AirPods 3 are now water as well as sweat-resistant which means that you can wear them while taking a shower or during rains. This is a feature which is underrated but very useful in day-to-day life.

Apple says that the battery life on AirPods 3 is also getting an upgrade with a promised 6 hours of increase in juice. Along with the charging case, Apple claims the AirPods 3 will run for up to 30 hours. AirPods 3 are also compatible with the MagSafe charging system and get the “force sensor” from AirPods Pro.

The biggest thing that now sets the AirPods Pro apart from the AirPods 3 is active noise cancellation. Yes, there were reports that AirPods 3 could get ANC but we did mention that if Apple puts this feature on the AirPods 3 then it would be hard to justify the AirPods Pro and people would stop buying them.

So we believe that this was always coming where Apple would not give every feature away and keep something for its “Pro” lineup of products. As expected, Apple is putting a lot of emphasis on audio quality of its AirPods 3 this time around.

The company says that AirPods 3 “feature AAC-ELD, a superior speech codec that offers full HD voice quality, providing clear, natural communication for FaceTime calls.” Also, the AirPods 3 will have head tracking capabilities as well which means that you can get a spatial audio experience while watching videos.

As far as pricing is concerned, Apple AirPods 3 are priced at $179 which means that they are $70 less than the AirPods Pro and only lack Active Noise Cancellation so if you are not using ANC too much then you can get the AirPods 3.
