Apple M5 MacBook Pro announced with a significant upgrade
MacBook Pros are getting better with every iteration, at least in some shape or form. This year, Apple decided not to change the display with the latest M5 MacBook Pro, so we have a 14.2” Liquid Retina XDR display boasting a resolution of 1,964 × 2,024px and a 120Hz ProMotion refresh rate. The display comes with a peak HDR brightness of 1,600 nits. A 12MP Center Stage webcam sits on top for all your video requirements.
The all-new M5 MacBook Pro is said to bring a colossal upgrade over its predecessor. The primary one of which is the M5 Apple Silicon that now offers a 10-core CPU that comprises 4x performance and 6x efficiency cores. There’s a 10-core GPU on-board that comes with a Neural Accelerator on each, as we are witnessing a jump in AI use cases on board MacBook Pro. In fact, the Cupertino-based giant claims a 3.5x faster performance in handling AI workflows compared to the M4.
Note that M4 wasn’t a lagging chipset either. It was a speed demon; however, the M5 seems to crush it with all its might. A 16-core Neural Engine sits under the hood, bringing about a 20% jump in multi-core performance. There’s also a 30% jump in memory bandwidth aboard the M5 MacBook Pro as it now hurtles at 153GB/s from 120GB/s. This means you can move larger files and better multitasking with the latest chipset under the hood.
Apple claims the new M5 MacBook Pro carries battery life of up to 24 hours on a single charge, and that could be partly because of the new chipset under the hood. The actual battery size remains unchanged at 72.4Wh, supplied with a 70W USB-C power adapter.
Talking about the various ports, there are 3x Thunderbolt 4 ports, 1x HDMI port, a Magsafe charging port, a headphone jack, and an SDXC card slot for storage. The laptop comes with Wi-Fi 6E and Bluetooth v5.3.
