Apple’s OLED MacBook Pro M6 is just around the corner. Apparently, the upcoming MacBook Pro brings a serious slew of features on board, including the first-ever touchscreen Tandem OLED and a significantly lighter and slimmer profile, making it a must-check laptop out there.
New OLED MacBook Pro to pick up Apple’s next-gen M6 Silicon
Well, Apple is eyeing the upcoming OLED MacBook Pro powered by the latest M6 SoC. With the late October to early November launch timeline, there is news doing the rounds in the rumor mill suggesting possibly an M6-powered OLED Pro. On the other hand, we could even see M5 Pro or M5 Max making the OLED MacBook Pro, although the next-gen M6 silicon appears to be a more viable option.
Both the M5 Pro duo and M6 SoC unlock impressive performance thanks to the aforementioned hardware, while macOS 27.2 (now in beta) handles the software half of the yet-unreleased device.
It ought to be lighter than ever
Well, Apple has been trying to reduce weight on its offerings. The existing 16” MacBook Pro weighs up to 4.8 pounds, 15” MacBook Airs are around 3.3 pounds, and the Neo is at 2.7 pounds. With a thinner profile, the Cupertino-based giant is working its way to bring a lighter keyboard weight to the upcoming MacBook Pro.
Although Apple hasn’t confirmed any of the details yet, the fact is that the tech juggernaut has to rearrange components and reengineer the interior while miniaturizing parts (that it can), opening more space for the laptop to be as ergonomic and convenient to hold as ever. There’s also no notch, replaced by a Dynamic Island instead.
The OLED MacBook Pro will also be the first Pro laptop to offer a touchscreen, something both Windows and Linux have been offering for eternity. This ensures brighter whites and darker blacks, just as the OLED iPad Pro came around the same time as the MacBook Pro. Note that Apple hasn’t confirmed the launch dates for either, which means late October and early November are currently the most viable release window.
