Apple isn’t just a status symbol but a beacon for privacy and security which the Cupertino-based company doesn’t budge from for any matters. With that being said, your iPhone could be used by any hacker disguising yourself i.e. the actual user with new vulnerabilities. Apple released two security reports online giving out information on how hackers could exploit serious security vulnerabilities on some of the iPhone, iPad, or Mac models which went unnoticed. Here’s a summary of everything Apple said about these new vulnerabilities.
According to the reports, your iPhone (or Mac or iPad) might become host to an attack wherein the hackers will be able to get ‘full admins access; to your device. Note that it doesn’t just talk about access but full admin access which is equivalent to root access on Android devices. With that, hackers can pretty much do whatever they want on your device since they will be impersonating you without triggering any suspicion on your respective device.
Hackers will be able to run any software using your credentials accordion to Rachel Tobac, CEO of SocialProof Security. Moving on, the affected devices are iPhone 6s and above, iPad 5th-gen and above, all iPad Pro, iPad Air 2, and Mac devices running on macOS Monterey along with some iPod models.
However, the good news is that Apple is already patching these vulnerabilities which means all you have to do to shield yourself against any hacking attempts is to simply update to the latest firmware. That’s pretty much all you need to do to avert any instances. The Cupertino-based giant didn’t share any information on who or where the vulnerabilities were discovered.
According to Will Strafach, a security researcher, he didn’t have any technical analysis on the vulnerabilities that the tech giant patched. It hints that it already knew about the loopholes and there could be instances of it getting exploited. For now, all you have to do is to patch your device with the latest iOS/iPadOS/macOS update and you should be good to go.
