Apple Acquires Akonia Holographics Towards Developing AR Lenses

Earlier, reports claiming Apple’s interest in buying a Colorado-based AR startup were hinted. The Cupertino-based tech giant has reportedly acquired Akonia Holographics which specialized in making lenses for artificial intelligence (AR) glasses.

Apple is experimenting with the scope on AR as it introduced AR features in it’s 2017 iPhone X which is all set to get a makeover this year as Apple will launch an advanced variant dubbed as Apple iPhone XS which features a 5.8-inch OLED display and will be powered by an Apple A12 bionic chipset. Cnet bought the deal in the headlines although the adjoining details regarding the deal are sealed as of now.

Akonia Holographics was founded back in 2012 and has been working on creating AR products such as it’s Holographic data storage among other products. Further, Apple will reportedly work with German optics giant Carl Zeiss toward developing state-of-the-art mixed artificial intelligence glasses. As of now, get excited as Apple officially announced the release date for it’s upcoming 2018 iPhone models as well iPad Pros, SmartWatch 4, and a bunch of other products are in the tow.
