Apple has finally unveiled the much-anticipated Apple iPhone SE (2022) at the March 8 Peak Performance event which saw a lot of other products as well. Let’s dive into what the new iPhone SE 2022 brings onboard.
Apple iPhone SE (2022) Pricing and Availability
The iPhone SE 2022 is scheduled to open for pre-orders this Friday while the sale will begin next week on Friday. The price tag for iPhone SE 2022 commences at $429 for the base 64GB model which means it isn’t as cheap as speculated in the countless rumors we had before the launch. It is INR 43,900/- for those living in India. There are three storage variants at 64GB, 128GB, and 256GB. You can choose between starlight, midnight, and (PRODUCT)RED colorways.
Apple iPhone SE (2022) Specifications, Features, And More
The Apple iPhone SE (2022) brings on-board a 4.7-inch Retina IPS LCD panel notchless panel with thick bezels around the edges. Apple hasn’t changed the design for iPhone SE 2022 as much so what you are seeing here is a reprised iPhone SE 2020 with powerful specs. The display has a 750×1334 pixels resolution with 326PPI density, oleophobic coating, ion-strengthened glass, and a wide color gamut.
According to Apple, it is using the toughest glass on a smartphone aka the Ceramic Shield on iPhone SE 2022. It covers both the front and the back of the phone for extreme protection against falls.
The device comes with an A15 Bionic chipset which is the same as that of the iPhone 13 series. This makes iPhone SE 2022 a powerful beast compared to any other smartphone in any price segment (of course, talking about Android as Apple puts it). You have three storage options i.e. 64GB, 128GB, and 256GB of NVMe storage flanked with 3GB of RAM.
The device gets the same computational photography chops as iPhone 13 such as Deep Fusion Photography Styles, Smart HDR 4 among others as well. There’s a 12MP rear camera onboard with PDAF and OIS and a Quad-LED dual-tone flashlight. The cam can choose up to 4K resolution at 60fps. The front, on the other hand, gets a 7MP f/2.2 cam with a 1080p video recording.
You also get 5G onboard which isn’t available in a series of mainline iPhones so that’s an iPhone 13-level feature on-board. Along with that, there’s Wi-Fi 6 dual-band, Bluetooth v5.2, GPS, NFC, iOS 15.3 out of the box, a USB 2.0 lightning port, a stereo speaker setup, and much more. Apple has gone for its old TouchID fingerprint scanner at the front which will give iPhone users nostalgia.
There’s no update on the battery capacity though as usual. We do know that there’s an 18W fast charging tech and it supports Qi wireless charging as well but that’s pretty much all about the battery that we know so far.
