WhatsApp for Android gets Facebook Messenger Rooms integration with beta update

Facebook introduced Messenger Rooms last month and the feature finally went live a couple of days ago. The feature allowed access to over hold a group call of over 50 participants. With that being said, the feature has now transcended to WhatsApp.

As per a report by WABetaInfo, the WhatsApp update 2.20.163 beta for Android integrates Messenger Rooms into the instant messaging app in the chat section. You can go to the chat option, tap on the share menu with the ‘safety pin-shaped icon’ that gives access to six major features such as Gallery, Document, Audio, Contact, etc.

Here, the update brings the direct ‘Room’ button that takes you to a new window that introduces the Messenger Room feature. It lets users hold a group video call of up to 50 people. According to the screenshots posted by WABetaInfo, all group calls to abide by the encrypted and privacy controls of WhatsApp although there’s no end-to-end encryption.

Users can also access the ‘Rooms’ menu from the ‘Calls’ section as well. The feature is currently available on limited devices in a few countries as beta including the USA although more devices and countries will get their share of updates soon.
