Asus finally launched their brand new flagship smartphone in the Indian market today. After being in news for a while, the device has made its way into the Indian market. Asus Zenfone 5z directly competes with the likes of Honor 10 and OnePlus 6. One of the main attracting aspects of the smartphone is its highly aggressive pricing. With the positive recognition of their budget Zenfone Pro Max M1, the brand is aiming to create tension in the flagship category.
Asus Zenfone 5z comes with the flagship level of specifications and is priced even less than the Honor 10 and OnePlus 6. Some of the highlights of the device are its Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 chipset, 19:9 display, flagship-level service experience and much more. If you’re not aware, the Zenfone 5z was first unveiled at the Mobile World Congress 2018 along with Zenfone 5 and Zenfone 5 Lite. While one of the devices made its way to the Indian shore, there is no word on the remaining ones.
Asus Zenfone 5z design and specifications
The smartphone comes with 6.2-inch full-HD+ Super IPS+ display having a resolution of 1080 x 2246 pixels and an aspect ratio of 18.7:9. For protection, the phone comes equipped with Corning Gorilla Glass. The device is powered by a Qualcomm’s flagship Snapdragon 845 chipset coupled with Adreno 630 GPU. Asus Zenfone 5z comes in different storage variants – one with 6GB RAM and 64GB of internal storage, second with 6GB RAM and 128GB onboard storage and the last one packs 8GB of RAM and 256GB of onboard storage. You can also expand the storage to up to 2TB via MicroSD card.
Coming to the optics, there is a dual camera sensor at the back which is positioned at the left side vertically. The rear camera setup comes with a 12-megapixel Sony IMX363 primary sensor having an aperture of f/1.8 and OIS support. On the other hand, there is an 8-megapixel OmniVision 8856 secondary sensor with fixed focus, f/2.2 aperture, and a 120-degree wide-angle lens. For the selfie lovers, there is a same 8-megapixel camera sensor at the front.
There is a fingerprint sensor at the back right in the middle of the device. Apart from that, the front camera supports Face Recognition. All of this runs on 3300mAh battery with Quick Charge 3.0 and ZenUI 5.0 on top of Android 8.0.0 Oreo out-of-the-box. All the Asus Zenfone 5z users will get the Android P update in the future.
In terms of audio, Asus Zenfone 5z comes with dual 5 magnet speakers, dual smart AMP, and DTS headphone X support. The smartphone has a high res audio output which is four times better than CD Audio output. For much better audio experience, it comes packed with ZenEar Pro which also gives an high-res audio output. Another interesting thing about this smartphone is the Smart Screen which observes you and ultimately knows when to keep it on.
Other specifications include USB Type-C (Gen1), Bluetooth v5.0, NFC, dual-SIM (Nano) and dual-VoLTE, 3.5mm headphone jack.
Asus Zenfone 5z packed with Artificial Intelligence
Artificial Intelligence is making its way into almost every aspect of our life now. Asus Zenfone 5z comes with Snapdragon 845 which Artificial Intelligence Engine. The smartphone has an AI boost and multi-core AI engine which results in intelligent and faster performance. The device consists of AI cameras which have 16 different scene detection. The scene detection includes People, Food, Dog, Cat, Sunset, Text and 10 other detections.
Apart from the above set of AI-related features, the device comes with something interesting which is known as AI charging. The AI charging increases the overall battery health by two times. It also comes with an AI adaptive ringtone which intelligently adjusts the ringer volume in any ambiance. The last AI-related feature in this smartphone is AI all-screen display.
Asus Zenfone 5z Indian pricing and launch offer
The smartphone is launched in three variants in India depending on storage and in two different colors – Midnight Blue and Meteor Silver. The base variant which comes with 6GB RAM and 64GB internal storage is priced at Rs. 29,999. The 6GB RAM/ 128GB inbuilt variant storage model and 8GB RAM/256GB onboard storage are going to set you back Rs. 32,999 and Rs. 36,999 respectively.
Asus Zenfone 5z is exclusively available at Flipkart which will go on sale on July 9.
The brand is also offering some interesting initial launch offers which include flat Rs. 3000 instant discount on ICICI credit and debit cards. Flipkart is also offering ‘Complete Mobile Protection’ at Rs. 499 which is originally sold for Rs. 2,299), no-cost EMIs starting from Rs. 3,333 a month, Jio offer with Rs. 2,200 cashback and 100GB additional data.
All the Zenfone 5z buyers will also be able to enjoy flagship level after sales service. This includes invoice free walk-in, free pickup, and drop facility, and device swap facility at the centers.
