Google Pixel Watch Specifications
Google Pixel Watch, something that tech enthusiasts might have started hearing about a year ago, has launched. With Wear OS 3.5 out-of-the-box, it sets it apart from what Samsung’s UI on top. There are two smartwatch versions – LTE and Wi-Fi and both are available in just one size i.e. 41mm.
About the display, it has a 1.2” AMOLED display with Always-On mode and a 1000 nits brightness for visibility even in the direct sun. The display is dome-shaped and protecting it is a Gorilla Glass 5 that should safeguard it from scratches and falls alike. The chassis itself is made up of stainless steel which means Google has close attention to the overall structural integrity of the watch. It does come with 5ATM water resistance which is another USP but hey, the Pixel Watch is expensive but nothing compared to Apple Watch Ultra.
Next up, we have an Exynos 9110 SoC which we saw on Galaxy watches in 2018 as well. Now that’s what I would call a shortcoming Google didn’t think of filling up with a custom-made or at least a newer chip. There’s 2GB of RAM which is at least higher than the Samsung Galaxy Watch5 Pro but that’s not square of the things that easy. We should learn more about the Pixel Watch once it arrives for review.
Finally, there’s Bluetooth 5.0, NFC, and Wi-Fi 2.4GHz on both variants but the LTE version gets LTE support as a differentiating factor. Google has also made claims that the battery onboard the Pixel Watch can last for a full day on a single charge although that’s when you are using it at the max throttle. For context, the Google Pixel Watch is using a 294mAh battery which is smaller than Samsung Galaxy Watch 5 Pro for sure. Perhaps, the USB-C charging support could do some justice juicing it from zero to full in approx 80 minutes.
On the sensor side of the specifications, we have an EKG sensor that now has more data and readings than before. Additionally, it has been certified by FDA. There’s a heart rate sensor which, of course, monitors your heart rate. There’s an SpO2 sensor for those who want to know how much oxygen there is in the blood.
Apart from that, Google has joined forces with Fitbit to develop algorithms for overall health tracking. There’s a fall detection feature along with other safety features in the works slated to arrive sometime in 2023.
