Google has been one of the most efficient companies when it comes to letting employees work from home since they have had this tradition for a long time now. It is known in the Silicon Valley that you will find the Googleplex half empty most of the times because their employees work from home during normal times as well. However, we are in the Coronavirus pandemic situation and companies that don’t have work from home culture will also be forced to make their employees work from home. This is also the reason why we are seeing the companies work so efficiently right now.

And there is a new report regarding Google which reveals that the company plans to let the majority of their employees work from home even after the pandemic situation improves and the lockdown ends. According to a report by The Verge, Google CEO Sundar Pichai wrote a letter to employees informing them that employees who are needed to be physically present at offices will be allowed back to the offices from June or July. The letter reads that there will be “increased safety precautions” and “different” in-office experience.

For rest of the employees that are not required to come to the office every day, they will be allowed to continue working from home for the rest of this year at least. It is also known that Facebook is following Google’s lead and have told its employees to work from home for the rest of 2020 as well.

It is also likely that more companies will follow suit after Google and Facebook to let their employees work from home and shutter their offices if needed for this year. We are also glad to report that no layoffs have been planned at Google or Facebook or other companies so far but we do know that companies such as Airbnb, Uber and others have already laid off some of their staff.
