There’s a lot ongoing in the Chinese smartphone scene such as Huawei became the second largest smartphone maker in terms of units shipped in 2018 while a number of smartphones pushing out new technologies originating from brands founded in China are on the rise too. Similarly, Honor has officially announced that it will launch its upcoming Honor 20i smartphone at an event on April 17 in China. The post that Honor posted on Chinese networking site Weibo didn’t contain much information but we have something that will excite you.
According to the post and a previously released TENAA report where smartphones with model numbers HRY-TL00T and HRY-AL00TA appeared where either of the models is actually Honor 20i. The device will reportedly feature a giant 6.21” OLED display with a waterdrop-shaped notch sporting Huawei P30 Pro’s 32MP sensor that will mark its impact in terms of taking breathtaking selfies and more.
The device will feature a 2.2 GHz octa-core processor and as per the previously launched Honor 20 is concerned, it could get Kirin 980 7nm SoC which is same as Huawei P30 Pro and Mate 20 Pro. The phone is estimated to sport a triple-camera assembly at the back sporting 24MP + 2MP depth + 8MP telephoto or wide-angle lens that will allow users to take photos and videos at stunning details.
Other bits of information that we were able to find is its battery size of 3,320 mAh which is similar to OnePlus 6. It will also have different tiers i.e. 4GB/6GB RAM and 64GB/128GB although it remains unclear at the moment which configuration will be followed here.
Anyhow, Huawei’s subsidiary Honor has scheduled the event on April 17 during its Honor MagicBook 2019 launch event which is undoubtedly a rival to Apple MacBooks. Huawei has impressed masses with its innovations such as the latest Huawei Mate X foldable device has a 5G support while its P30 Pro is considered a breakthrough in terms of mobile photography thanks to its large IMX600 48MP sensor clubbed with a telephoto, wide-angle, and a ToF sensor with 10x optical zoom.
On the other hand, it is a big deal in the 5G market and even though it is banned in the United States and a few other countries, it managed to sell more than 200 million units last year beating Apple from its second position after Samsung which sold more than 300 million units.
