Honor 9N launched in India with 19:9 notch display, premium glass design

Honor today announced their new budget smartphone in the Indian market – Honor 9N. The brand unveiled the smartphone at an event in New Delhi. The smartphone maker launched Honor 9i in the Chinese market last month. Honor 9N is basically the Indian variant of that Honor 9i. Some of the key features of the device are its 19:9 notched display, 12-layer premium glass at the back, dual rear camera and a front 16-megapixel selfie shooter.

Just like most of the Honor devices, this one is also available at the Flipkart exclusively. On top of that, the brand claimed that the device will fall under the “Made in India” campaign.

Just like we expected, the smartphone shares similar specifications to the Chinese Honor 9i. Honor 9N comes with a 5.84-inch IPS Full HD+ display with an aspect ratio of 19:9 and a resolution of 1080 x 2280 pixels. The device has a narrow notch on the top and thicker side bezels since this is a budget device. If you hate notch, then you do have an option to hide it inside the software.

It is powered by an octa-core HiSilicon Kirin 659 chipset paired with either 3GB or 4GB of RAM inside. As the storage is a concern, it is expandable via MicroSD up to 256GB. As mentioned previously, the smartphone has a 2.5D glass giving it mirror-like effects which looks impressive. The 12-layer premium glass also adds up to the overall design. There is a fingerprint sensor at the back with an Honor branding at the bottom.

Speaking of optics, there is a dual camera setup at the back having a 13-megapixel primary sensor and a 2-megapixel secondary sensor for depth sensing alongside an LED flash. Both the sensors come with an aperture of f/2.2. Unlike rear, the front only has a single 16-megapixel selfie shooter making it a selfie-centric smartphone. Both the rear as well as front sensor support 1080p video recording.

Honor 9N has dual Nano SIM support and runs on the latest version of their custom skin EMUI 8.0 on top of the Android 8.0 Oreo. Other specifications include 3,000 mAh rated battery, Face Unlock feature, 3.5-mm headphone jack, and Bluetooth 4.2.

This budget smartphone comes with loads of camera-centric features. It comes with 4-in-1 Light Fusion technology which four small pixels into one large 2.0-micron pixel. Thanks to this tech, the device delivers beautiful pictures even in the dark. The rear camera comes with PDAF, HDR, time-lapse, burst mode, Pro Photo, Pro Video, HDR, Night Shot, Light Painting, Time-Lapse, Good Food, Wide Aperture, Moving Picture, and more.

On the other hand, the selfie camera supports Portrait Mode, Moving Picture, Panorama, Video, AR lens, Time-Lapse, Filter, and Watermark modes. A Snap First, Focus Later is something which most of the devices has and so does this one.

Apart from the camera-centric features, the device also has Wi-Fi Bridge that lets you share any Wi-Fi network as a hotspot and connect a maximum of 4 devices. The Smart Dual Bluetooth Connection lets users connect two devices simultaneously. Other features include Game Suite, Party Mode, Quick Payment Access and Ride Mode.

Honor 9N price and launch offers

The device comes in three different storage variants –  3GB RAM/ 32GB storage, 4GB RAM/64GB storage, and 4GB RAM/128GB onboard memory. The lower storage variant is going to set you back Rs. 11,999 while the 4GB variant will damage your pocket by Rs. 13,999. The higher 128GB variant is priced at Rs. 17,999. When it comes to colors, It comes in Lavender Purple, Robin Egg Blue, Midnight Black, and the popular Sapphire Blue. Honor is offering few launch offers to attract the customers which include Reliance Jio cashback worth Rs. 2,200 & an additional 100GB internet data. You’ll also get a Myntra voucher of worth Rs. 1,200. The actual shipments, on the other hand, will start on July 31.
