Chinese smartphone maker Huawei finally introduced the Nova 8 series in China. It includes both standard/vanilla Nova 8 and Nova 8 Pro and both offer HiSilicon Kirin 985 chipsets with 66W wired charging, 5G support, and a 64MP camera. Huawei Nova 8: Specifications, Cameras, Display, Price & Availability
Huawei Nova 8 brings on-board a curved 6.57-inch FHD+ OLED with a 90Hz refresh rate. A front centrally placed punch-hole camera takes the helm with a 32MP sensor embedded in it. The device looks pretty stunning owing to its curved front display. There’s an under-the-display fingerprint scanner that does its job pretty quickly.
At the back, you’ll find a rather unique-looking camera setup. It is a quad-camera setup at the back in the shape of an elliptical island. The primary 64MP camera takes the most real estate with a large ring around it. There’s an 8MP ultrawide, a 2MP macro, and a 2MP depth sensor at the bottom with a LED flash housed in a circular ring as well. Overall, the setup looks pretty awesome owing to its unique style.
Under the hood, you’ll find a Kirin 985 SoC as said above with 8GB RAM and 128/256GB storage variants on-board. A 3,800 mAh battery supplies the power required followed by a 66W fast wired charging and no doubt it will juice up the battery in a little over half an hour. Finally, the device comes with Android 10-backed EMUI 11 and the company’s HMS system as it doesn’t support GMS following the ban imposed on it from the U.S.
Talking about the pricing, the lower 8GB+128GB trim is up for sale at CNY 3,299 or $505 while the higher 8GB+256GB variant goes for sale at CNT 3,699 or $565. The phone is available in black, green, purple, and silver color variants. As of the sales, the device is already up for pre-orders and the sales commence on December 30. As always, Huawei hasn’t declared its international availability so we will have to see when it arrives globally.

Huawei Nova 8 Pro takes the front seat with its 6.72-inch OLED FHD+ panel bumping up the refresh rate to 120Hz. The display is curved and comes with a 10-bit color output which translates into saturated and deeper colors. There’s a dual punch-hole camera setup at the front housing a 16MP primary and a 32MP ultrawide sensor. As in the case of Nova 8, the fingerprint scanner is under the display.
Under the hood, you’ll find a large 4,000 mAh battery supplied with 66W fast wired charging support. The device arrives with Android 10-backed EMUI 11 on top of the HMS app ecosystem owing that Huawei was stripped away of GMS following the ban from the U.S.
The camera setup on the Huawei Nova 8 Pro remains the same as its vanilla version. The device is available in two trims i.e. the 8/128GB variant is up for sale at CNY 3,999 or $611 while the higher 8/256GB variant is available at CNY 4,399 or $672. Pre-orders have already started and on December 30, the official sales will commence. Note that Huawei hasn’t declared anything around its international availability at the time of launch and at least until at the time of writing this.
