A couple of days ago Huawei announced their new flagship P series next-generation lineup that is the most undoubtfully P40 series. It was earlier announced that the launch event will take place in Paris, France but due to the COVID-19 outbreak, the whole event was shifted to online. We already have a few specs but today Huawei P40 Pro 5G Spotted on Geekbench with Android 10 with the single and dual-core performance score.

The benchmark database doesn’t reveal the name of the chipset powering the P40 Pro 5G, but we can say(expect) it to have the Kirin 990 SoC because of the performance which we can relate to previous-gen Mate 30 lineup and the Mate Xs foldable smartphone that announced last month only.
What we already know about Huawei P40 Series?
From previous leaks and rumors, we have a good amount of information about the upcoming Huawei P40 lineup. Things we need to focus on are again the design and their camera housing which happens to their specialty and the area of expertise according to me.
On the rear side, the smartphone features a massive 6.7-inch OLED display complete with a 3160 x 1440p resolution and support for a 120Hz refresh rate. And my favorite, a beautiful dual-punch hole selfie camera housed at the upper top left corner. The screen also houses for an under-display fingerprint sensor, which is much faster than the previous generation sensor, according to the company.
There will a Huawei P40 Pro Premium Edition along with the normal P40 and P40 Pro. The premium edition is most likely to be one in the competition of the Ultra edition of Samsung Galaxy S20.
As for the selfie camera experience, Huawei is going to implement a 32-megapixel selfie shooter alongside a 32-megapixel ultra-wide-angle equivalent for group shots. And in the rear section of the phone, it is housing a Penta-camera setup for the best experience in the PE and quad & triple camera setup in P40 Pro and P40 respectively.
The first three sensors which are common in all the three variants are a powerful 52-megapixel main sensor, a 40-megapixel ultra-wide-angle shooter and the 8-megapixel(125 mm lens) telephoto shooter with 3x optical zoom capability.
As of now, the Pro and the Premium Edition will include the 5G adapter module. There is a certainty that Huawei will most likely include the 5G adapter in the base variant too but who knows.
Under the hood, the smartphone will sport a powerful Kirin 990 SoC which we have already seen in the Mate 30 and Mate X series, which guarantees support for 5G networks as standard and will be paired with 12GB of RAM and a whopping 512GB of internal storage which may be further expandable via the company’s nano sd card format, although that isn’t yet confirmed.
The smartphone is fueled by a non-removable ginormous 5,500 mAh battery in the Premium Edition with is backed up with a 50W fast charging and 27W fast wireless charging.
Over these, the smartphone will be backed up with Android 10 and EMUI 10 straight out of the box. Unfortunately, as a direct result of the US trade ban imposed upon Huawei, the P40 Pro Premium Edition won’t be shipping with Google apps and services on board.
Availability and Pricing
The launch event will take place on Thursday, March 26. And as already mentioned, the whole event will take place online. Orders and shipments are expected to start in early April and the Premium Edition could be priced anywhere between €1,199 and €1,299 in Europe and so as the P40 and P40 Pro with slightly lower pricing.
