The Huawei P50 series is epic and powerful but there’s more to it than flagship-grade models. Turns out Huawei officially released the clamshell-style foldable smartphone in this series dubbed as Huawei P50 Pocket that has arrived in China while its US availability is questioned. Here’s more about the Huawei P50 Pocket that you must know.

Huawei P50 Pocket Pricing and Availability

Huawei P50 Pocket

The Huawei P50 Pocket is available in three color variants – black, white, and a premium edition gold trim that looks pretty dope. Its standard 8GB+256GB variant is up for sale at CNY8,988 (~ $1410) and there’s only one trim available.

Talking about the special premium gold trim, the phone is available with a 12GB+512GB configuration at a price tag of CNY10,988 (or ~$1,725) in China. The phone is already available for sale in its home country although its availability outside China is yet shrouded in mystery.

Huawei P50 Pocket

The Huawei P50 Pocket packs in a huge 6.9-inch foldable OLED panel with a 21:9 aspect ratio. There’s a 120Hz refresh rate on the clock and the whole phone weighs just 190 grams. It packs in a Snapdragon 888 4G SoC along with a 4,000 mAh battery.

What’s enticing is the foldable design as the P50 Pocket uses a clamshell-style foldable panel where the display folds in half right in the middle. If you have seen Samsung Galaxy Z Flip3, you know what I am talking about. The display gets a punch-hole cut-out for the selfie camera and it looks pretty good.

There’s a secondary but tiny display at the back that looks like a second circular camera island
However, instead of showing some notifications, time, and dates, the secondary display at the back is way advanced with a tonne of widgets to use. It can act as a viewfinder for the rear camera, which you can carry out with navigation from the main screen to the secondary one. You can show QR codes for smart payments. There are music controls, and much more.

The Huawei P50 Pocket uses a hinge mechanism to fold right in the middle. Turns out there are no gaps between the two halves of the screen when the display folds with a 15.2mm thickness when compared to 15.9mm on the Galaxy Z Flip3.

Huawei P50 Pocket

The Chinese smartphone maker has equipped P50 Pocket with a triple camera setup on a circular island. There’s a 40MP primary sensor with a 26mm equivalent lens, a 13MP ultrawide snapper with f/2.2 aperture, and finally, there’s a 32MP ultra spectrum camera that will enhance color rendering on-board P50 Pocket. The front, on the other hand, sees a 10.7MP front-facing camera.

Huawei P50 Pocket runs on HarmonyOS 2.0 in China while if the device is released outside China, it should get the EMUI 12 version. The device uses a 40W fast charging tech, a 5W reverse charging tech, a USB Type-C 2.0 port, a side-mounted FPS, Bluetooth v5.2, dual-band Wi-Fi 6, NFC, and other features that you will get with the Pocket.
