- Apple is reportedly witnessing a dip in demand for the iPhone 16 Pro series compared to last year's estimates.
- iPhone 16 Pro and Pro Max are down by 16% and 27%, respectively, while the non-Pro models are trying to balance the graph with a strong demand.
- These estimates from Ming-Chi Kuo are based on Apple's shipping timelines on its website plus supply chain surveys, however, these aren't conclusive as of now.
A week ago, Apple launched its much-anticipated iPhone 16 series with the pre-orders commencing last weekend. However, it seems things are probably not going in favor of Apple. The Cupertino-based giant is reportedly seeing lower iPhone 16 Pro demand and here’s the analysis to back it up.
iPhone 16 Pro Demand Stumbles Amidst Unavailability of a Popular Feature
This comes from a pre-order analysis run by Apple analyst Ming-Chi Kuo from what appears to be a combination of shipping timelines on Apple’s website and supply chain surveys. Although Apple hasn’t released any figures yet and probably because it is premature to do that for now, we might have estimated figures.
According to Ming-Chi Kuo, demand for the iPhone 16 Pro Max is down by 16% compared to the pre-orders for last year’s iPhone 15 Pro Max on the first weekend itself. The iPhone 16 Pro is facing a slightly dire situation, with a 27% downfall from last year’s figure.
On the other hand, iPhone 16 Plus is doing the heavy lifting with an estimated jump in demand at 47% compared to last year’s model. Finally, we have the standard iPhone 16 which is noticing an increase in demand by 10%.
Overall, Apple has reportedly sold 37 million units of all iPhone 16s combined which is still a 12.7% dip from last year’s figures shedding light on the overall demand graph.
One such reason why Apple could see this graph is because of the unavailability of Apple Intelligence features right off the back. Yes, the features will be available across iPhone 16 models, but it will be packaged as a part of iOS 18.1 coming in October even though most of the competitors have rolled out a suite of AI features already.
