Before you can go around investing a fortune, let us take you through this iPhone 17 Pro teardown that reveals more about the phone and, most importantly, its repairability quotient.

iPhone 17 Pro teardown video chalks out the repairability score

The disassembly process of the iPhone 17 Pro gives you an idea of where every component is integrated, how, and what it takes to repair. I mean, iPhones have been notorious in terms of repairability, and the next-gen Pro comes with its set of fixtures.

When you start disassembling it, Apple has used way too many screws, I mean, it has replaced adhesive in many places, thereby allowing users to fix a broken component without literally uprooting the components that can, for sure, introduce damage. All the components on-board the iPhone 17 Pro (and Pro Max) are packed with density that has helped Apple return a compact shape all while increasing the battery sizes.

The motherboard sits horizontally and neatly tucked above the battery pack probably to save it from drop protection. The A19 Pro chip might see some damage in case you carry out a self-storage upgrade; however, we would advise against doing so on your own unless you know exactly what to do. The connectors are what you need to assess because they may be delicate, and yanking off the wrong component or the connector can cause damage.

Turns out Apple has made iPhone 17 Pro repairability a bit of a task since you can make most of the repairs only from the front side. The back panel uses a shield plate that separates the back panel from the battery. The shield plate is removable as well, tagged with a few torque screws. And yes, the battery is larger, with a stainless steel casing, and in fact, you can gauge the difference in sizes compared to iPhone 16 Pro (for the unversed, it is almost 416mAh).

Moving on, we have larger rear and front camera lenses that should translate into brighter pictures and videos. The flood illuminator and dot projector have swapped places, although that’s nothing you should be worried about.

The mid-frame is aluminum and comes more integrated than ever. It also means it is more expensive to replace, if needed. Some of the screws on board the frame are trickier to remove, although you need specialized tools to carry out repairs. Watch the entire iPhone 17 Pro teardown video right here.
