The upcoming Apple iPhone 17 Series won’t have a smaller Dynamic Island. Well, that’s what Apple analyst Ming-Chi Kuo says and that has got people thinking about the upcoming series slated to launch later this year.

iPhone 17 Series May Bid Adieu to ‘Smaller Dynamic Island’ Dream

According to reputed Apple analyst Ming-Chi Kuo, Apple is likely to keep the size of its Dynamic Island on-board Apple iPhone 17 lineup largely unchanged compared to the iPhone 17 lineup. This comes right after reports flooded the tech world about how Apple is working on shrinking the size of its Dynamic Island using built-in Face ID tech.

Although Apple has changed our outlook towards notches with a functional Dynamic Island, it is still a dead spot right in the middle of the screen. Perhaps, many people don’t like it and thus, they were happy to learn Apple is working around shrinking its size for good. This would’ve meant more screen real estate, an essential commodity on a smartphone.

Apple introduced Dynamic Island on-board iPhone 14 Pro series, and it has remained largely unchanged for years. Apple could eventually switch to a smaller cut-out to carve more screen real estate, although that’s something we could expect with future models and not the upcoming iPhone 17 lineup.

Apple is also working on an ultra-thin iPhone dubbed as iPhone 17 Air. The fact that this is likely to be Apple’s largest redesign for a few years now, it is unlikely Apple will focus on shrinking Dynamic Island on this year’s lineup. It would take a lot of bandwidth that they would otherwise invest in the slimmer iteration of iPhones.

The Cupertino-based giant is set to launch its iPhone 17 series in October this year with the official dates to be out in a couple of months. The series is likely to get an combination of aluminum and glass construction, possibly giving up a titanium iteration in the process. However, let’s take all this info into consideration with crossed fingers until more concrete details aren’t available.
