The LG G4 will be announced at the 28th of April this year. The Korean tech company has announced some features over the past week, and even more recently a leaked microsite for the phone dropped us with much more information about their upcoming high-end smartphone.
The build and chassis of the LG G4
and the recent microsite leak spills the beams on all six leather color variants, as well as three more traditional plastic back panels. From the microsite:
After the recent LG G4 images, it’s pretty much clear that it will be available with an optional leather back panel. LG has teased the brown leather back panel in the invites for the LG G4 launch event. And the recent microsite leaks spills the beams on all six leather color variants, as well as three more plastic back panels. Here we have a quote from the microsite:
“Inspired by artisanal precision, the G4’s premium back covers come in metallic gray, ceramic white, shiny gold, and genuine leather. The chic colored versions sport a textural hammered-array pattern while the classic leather option is available in five distinct colors and features an exquisite threaded stitch.”
The other images are showing a removable back cover, so you will be able to swap the back panels for a different color / material. For example, it’s possible that people who are going to buy a LG G4 buy it first with a plastic back panel and that they later buy leather back panel. Just as with the style swap covers from OnePlus.
The LG G4 dimensions listed on the leaked microsite are: (75.3mm wide, 149.1mm tall and 8.9mm thick), pictures made on the side of the LG G4 are showing a slightly curved display, but it’s unlikely that the device will be bendable, just like the LG G Flex 2.
Display
LG already announced the next generation display it will be using in the LG G4, an improved 5.5-inch Quad HD (2560×1440). The press release that the company did goes further into the technical detail than the leaked microsite does. LG has an interesting name for the new generation display: Quantum IPS Display.
Battery
There is not a whole lot of information about the used battery, but the leaks are showing us that the LG G4 has a 3000mAh removable battery, with wireless charging support with likely the Qi charging standard.
Camera
Based on the information from LG’s own press release, as well as the leaked microsite, the G4 will follow-up the G3 in style. The company has officially announced some of the technology behind the camera, revealing a 16MP shooter at the back with f/1.8 aperture. Which means that it can shoot higher resolution pictures than the G3 can. The shooter at the front is a 8MP unit. But this is not what the microsite is saying, the site says it has a 13MP shooter at the back, but LG already said it will be a 16MP shooter.
Internals
The best information that is available about the internals of the LG G4 is pretty sketchy: It is coming from a benchmarking app, of a phone with the model number: LG-F500. The LG-F500 hardware lines up with what we know of the LG G4, and it’s powered by a six-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 808 SoC with 3GB of RAM and 32GB of internal storage. The Snapdragon 808 offers less ram power that Qualcomm’s 810 SoC, using a combination of 2 high-power Cortex-A57 cores, and for low-power Cortex-A53 cores. The Snapdragon 810 uses four Cortex-A57 and four Cortex A53 cores. However, the presence of fewer Cortex-A57 cores means that the battery can go for longer.
Software
LG UX 4.0 was one of the first things that LG announced. An official teaser video shows you the new features of the UI including a redesigned Smart Bulletin panel with extra cards, including TV remote capabilities, a music widget and health tracking features. The LG G4 will be delivered with Android 5.0 Lollipop, and not as the microsite was saying Android 4.4 KitKat.
Accessories
The last thing which the microsite leaked were the usual assortment of accessories for the upcoming flagship, including their wireless chargers and QuickCircle cases.
All this stays a leak, the microsite did show us some wrong information . The Camera is a 16MP shooter, which is already confirmed by LG and the phone won’t be delivered with Android 4.4 KitKat but with 5.0 Lollipop. For now you can takes everything in this articles with a little bit of salt, we can now only wait until the 28th of April for the confirmation or the opposite of it.
