- Nothing has teased its upcoming budget smartphone, the Phone (4b).
- The teaser shows the phone will feature a single rear camera.
- It keeps Nothing’s signature transparent-style design.
Considering the rise of RAM/storage pricing, the smartphone industry is already shaking up, and with this change Nothing seems to be finally taking a significant action by entering the affordable segment with its upcoming smartphone, the Nothing Phone (4b). The London-based company took on X (formerly Twitter) to share a teaser for its upcoming budget smartphone.
If you look closely at the teaser, it barely reveals the first look at the device and indicates that this could be Nothing’s most affordable phone yet. The teaser went live shortly after Nothing’s co-founder Akis Evangelidis said that the successor to the CMF Phone 2 Pro won’t release anytime soon. He noted the rising memory pricing as the primary problem. He stated we could not deliver a “genuine step forward” while keeping the affordable pricing that is maintained under CMF.
Transparent design returns
Nothing posted the teaser image on X (formerly Twitter), revealing a sketch of the phone with the company’s signature transparent design. Interestingly, the image shows a different camera layout and arrangements. To be more specific, the sketch seen in the image depicts a single camera system on the rear side of the phone.

Nothing Phone (4b) name appears in teaser
For the last few days, Nothing has been highlighting the “4b” naming continuously. Now, the same naming can be seen in the image, which gives us an idea that the phone will be dubbed as the Nothing Phone (4b).
Make sure that the name is still under wraps, since the company has not officially announced it. We just happen to catch it in teaser images.
Notably, many consumers began to wonder about Nothing’s decision to enter the affordable segment. Because the company already has CMF, a sub-brand that specifically targets entry-level consumers. So why don’t they release the phone under CMF branding rather than putting it in Nothing. Well, I guess the company wants to expand its Nothing lineup beyond flagships and mid-premium, along with the CMF portfolio.
Focus on lower pricing
To maintain the lower pricing, companies often compromise some specs to reduce the product cost. With the Nothing Phone (4b), Nothing seems to be doing the same. That’s the only explainable reason why we will be getting a single rear camera for the first time on a Nothing phone. Anyway, the company has not revealed any specifications until now, but we do expect it to be out in the coming weeks.
In the coming weeks, it would be interesting to see how Nothing puts its new smartphone in its portfolio and what consumers have to pay for this affordable phone. Will it be the pricing or specs? Only time will tell; until then, stay tuned with us to get the latest updates on the Nothing Phone (4b).
