OnePlus AI

At the core of OxygenOS 16 is OnePlus AI, an adaptive system that learns user habits to optimize performance and boost productivity. A top feature, Plus Mind, saves content like articles, photos, and schedules from various apps into one central place. Users can capture and organize info using a three-finger swipe or a special “Plus Key.” The AI automatically summarizes and groups related items into collections, supporting English, Hindi, and Indonesian.

Plus Mind and Google Gemini integration

OnePlus has partnered with Google Gemini, integrating it directly into Plus Mind. This lets Gemini use user-saved data while also leveraging its large language model and real-time internet abilities. For instance, users can ask Gemini to create a personalized travel itinerary using saved locations, weather forecasts, and local suggestions. OnePlus calls this integration the “industry’s first personalized AI powered by Gemini.”

AI Tools for productivity and creativity

OxygenOS 16 boosts productivity through multiple AI-driven utilities.

  • AI Writer helps compose emails, captions, and social media posts in multiple tones.
  • AI Scan converts the phone’s camera into a document scanner that straightens pages, removes glare, and outputs clear PDFs.
  • AI Recorder offers live transcription, speaker identification, and smart summaries.
  • AI Portrait Glow and AI Perfect Shot enhance photo quality by improving lighting and fixing common portrait flaws.
  • Built-in Video Editor now allows advanced trimming, merging, and speed adjustments.

For early adopters, the new AI PlayLab app provides access to experimental tools such as “YumSee,” which translates menu text into visual dish previews, and “Party Up,” which generates short videos from still photos.

Performance and smoothness

OxygenOS 16 keeps OnePlus’s focus on fluidity using Parallel Processing 2.0 and Flow Motion tech. These make sure that animations start and finish smoothly across apps, even while multitasking quickly.

Battery life also gets a notable improvement. Tests on the OnePlus 13 series show users got over eight hours of screen-on time, up from just six hours on OxygenOS 15. The company credits enhanced network power optimization for this boost.

Cross-ecosystem connectivity

The update improves integration with the O+ Connect app, allowing wireless file transfer, screen mirroring, and notification syncing on Mac and Windows PCs. A surprising new part is Apple Watch support through the OHealth app, which lets users see notifications, handle calls, and sync workout data. The “Touch to Share” feature now also backs OnePlus–iPhone interactions.

Design and customization

Visually, this update introduces a calm, modern look under the “Breath with You” design. It uses rounded corners, Gaussian blur on backgrounds, and live weather animations that react to real-time conditions. Customization options grew with Flux Theme 2.0, letting you use video wallpapers, depth effects, and adjustable fonts. Users can freely resize icons, widgets, and folders, moving past the usual grid layout. The Intelligent Fluid Cloud feature works as a live information hub for alerts, food delivery tracking, and live sports scores through Google Sports.

Security and device protection

Security sees a major upgrade with Private Computing Cloud, offering encryption powered by both GPU and CPU hardware. In India, Plus Lock Protection gives multi-layered defense against theft—including remote locking and automatic device lockdown if a SIM card is removed.

For tablets, OxygenOS 16 brings an optimized interface supporting up to five simultaneous apps through Open Canvas multitasking, and a larger dock holding up to 18 apps.

Rollout schedule and eligible devices

The OnePlus 15, launching globally later this year, will ship with OxygenOS 16 pre-installed. The wider rollout begins in November 2025, extending through Q1 2026.
