OnePlus 6 was launched in this May and immediately garnered positive responses with millions of units sold and counting. It has been three months after the OnePlus 6 and people are waiting to hear about OnePlus 6T, the successor to OnePlus 6 that will have few added features if not many. But what’s even more exciting is that OnePlus 6T will be officially launched with the U.S. based T-Mobile in the United States which could open new doors both for U.S. based customers and the China-based OnePlus.
According to the report published by CNET, OnePlus is in talks with T-Mobile for its exclusive release in the U.S. and the deal has almost gone through except the testing phase where T-Mobile will test whether OnePlus 6T will work best on its network or not. On the other hand, OnePlus 6T will be completely optimized to work on the T-Mobile network. OnePlus ships a single unit around the globe i.e. GSM-backed OnePlus smartphones which means, it could work with T-Mobile and AT&T in the U.S. since both Verizon and Sprint required CDMA modem to work.
Since OnePlus is not a bigger brand to support the development of both CDMA and GSM models of its smartphones, it ships only a single model i.e. GSM. The backing of T-Mobile would provide OnePlus with greater sales volume since getting a place in a major carrier’s shelf in its stores spread across the United States literally means more sales. With many Chinese brands failing to comply with the testing standards as well as providing optimum privacy to the users, like Huawei, OnePlus is one of the few brands that are able to tie up with a U.S. carrier.
Following the launched of OnePlus 3, 3T, 5, 5T, and now 6, we know that there is a five to six-month gap between two consecutive smartphones which means, OnePlus could launch its OnePlus 6T somewhere in October this year. The specs and features are up for discussions since OnePlus 6T is expected to have a price tag of $550 or Rs. 38,400 which is almost three grand higher than the base 64GB, 6GB RAM variant of OnePlus 6 which was launched with a price tag of ~$510 or Rs. 35,500.
Further, following OnePlus’ pattern of design that resembles that of Oppo, it is expected that OnePlus 6T will look more like Oppo R17 which will be released shortly. Similarly, Vivo X23 too has a waterdrop display with a tiny notch that will be adopted in Oppo R17 and OnePlus 6T as well. OnePlus 6T is waiting for a ‘technical approval’ that will be available after testing is successful.
Apart from the specs, OnePlus 6T will have a similar rear dual-camera setup though with a more used secondary sensor on the back which is something used for Portrait mode only in the OnePlus 6. Further, it will have a tiny notch as aforementioned with the front sensor and an edge-to-edge 6.28” AMOLED display. It will run on Android 9.0 Pie out-of-the-box with the latest variant of in-house OxygenOS which is known to be super light while extending Android OS’ capabilities and functionalities further.
