OnePlus 6 is certainly one of the most popular OnePlus smartphones with flagship specifications, a bezel-less display with a 19:9 aspect ratio. Although it has showcased its prowess over a number of aspects, there are still few things that users can expect from the OnePlus 6T which is the successor to OnePlus 6 and will be launched according to OnePlus’ bi-yearly launch schedule. But even months before its release, there are speculations, rumors surrounding OnePlus 6T that we have clubbed and presented here.
First of all, features like a notch-free 19:9 display, IP68 waterproofing, and wireless charging are among the aspects that OnePlus 6 lacked. This means that OnePlus could launch these features in the upcoming release of OnePlus 6T but things aren’t that easy. Since OnePlus follows a customer feedback and update policy where it takes inputs from its customers and then, create products accordingly and well in a budget constraint that will make few things go out of the question.
OnePlus 6’s design resembles much like Oppo R15 as the former has taken a number of cues from the latter and that’s because both OnePlus and Oppo along with Vivo are owned by a single company called BBK Electronics. With the launch of Oppo R17 slated on August 23, tech gurus have started speculating that OnePlus 6T will be based on Oppo R17 as well. To start with, OnePlus 6T won’t have a notch and supposedly with a sliding mechanism for front dual-camera setup but that’s something still in for dispute.
If OnePlus opts to change the front camera setup to a Vivo NEX’s styled elevating mechanism, it will have to design the components beneath the screen and that will surely increase the price tag. The difference between the prices of OnePlus 5 and 5T was only $40 when the latter was launched and that throws OnePlus is a tough situation even if it decides to get a sliding mechanism for front camera setup. Thus, it is safe to expect that the dual camera set up at the front will be housed alongside the top bezel as there is no notch either.
OnePlus 6 has a Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 processor which is a highly powerful chipset but speculations suggest OnePlus 6T could have a 7nm Snapdragon 855 processor though it isn’t clarified yet. Talking about the design, OnePlus 6T will have a sandwich front and back glass with an aluminum body similar to 6 but wireless charging is still unknown for sure. According to OnePlus, glass back doesn’t only help in wireless charging but it also gives a phone its premium look while elevating LTE connections and that OnePlus’ wired Dash Charger has proven to be a lot faster than wireless charging.
Further, people across the globe expected an in-display fingerprint scanner on OnePlus 6 which didn’t certainly materialized, however, the same goes for OnePlus 6T because the in-display fingerprint scanner is a costly affair and it is currently slower than facial recognition used in OnePlus 6. Moving on, OnePlus 6T will have Android 9.0 Pie out of the box with latest OxygenOS as, by the time the brand rolls out the phone in the market, Android Pie would have started rolling out in a number of devices.
We also know that OnePlus 6T won’t have 5G capabilities as it is something OEMs are still trying to feature out. Motorola became the first smartphone maker to extend capabilities of a 4G-enabled phone Moto Z3 to support 5G with a 5G mod but there’s still a lot of work that needs to be done before 5G networks can actually work. Finally about the battery life, with 3,300 mAh Li-Ion battery on OnePlus 6, it withstands a strenuous 4hr and 20mins on a heavy-duty battery test opposed to Apple iPhone X, Huawei P20 Pro, and others. But there will be a little increase in the battery capacity for sure as it was seen in the previous iterations too.
