Oppo’s flagship offering – the Find X6 series is due early next year. With that being said, we have all the reasons to believe that the pro variant aka the Find X6 Pro, will be the thickest Android phone from the Chinese smartphone maker. The question is, how come a flagship phone might be thicker given the fact that they sought to be thinner with every iteration. Here’s the interesting story.

Oppo Find X6 Pro might be the thickest Android phone

According to tipster Digital Chat Station on Weibo, he got his hands on an engineered sample. The phone carries a thickness of 9.3mm with its Ceramic back offering while the Leather edition puts it to 9.5mm. Moreover, the thickness is more at the camera module side at 14mm for both variants.

The reason for this escalated thickness is the fact that Oppo actually wants to go for a ceramic back panel rather than a glass back. Having a ceramic panel offers a much-needed upliftment in the premium quality of the device, however, it stuffs your pocket in more than one way.

Having a ceramic panel isn’t just good-looking, it is also expensive. Moreover, it adds to the overall thickness of the device and affects the weight considerably when compared to a glass back. You got the gist, right?

It’s not just Oppo trying to pull off Apple’s crate design. Xiaomi is going to pull off something similar with its Xiaomi 12S Ultra. Both will have to undergo the same trial if they decide to go through with the upgrade.

Oppo Find X6 Pro Specifications

Based on a report published by Sparrow News, the Find X6 Pro will welcome onboard a 50MP primary snapper at the back and most probably, it will be Sony IMX989 with OIS. The phone could flank it with an IMX890 ultrawide cam and a third 50MP telephoto cam that has OIS and 2.7x optical zoom. A third 50MP There’s a ToF snapper in the mix as well.

Moving on, the Pro variant is likely to pack in Marisilicon X from TSMC which is a 6nm ISP NPU. It is capable of Ultra HDR, ultra-dynamic range up to 1,000,000:1, and up to 20bit image processing to name a few.

The Oppo Find X6 is likely powered by Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 while the Pro model is highly speculated to get its hands on Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 SoC. The phone could be the first to bring the upcoming flagship chipset onboard although that remains to be seen.

For context, the Oppo Find X5 had Snapdragon 888 while Find X5 Pro got a Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 onboard. We will see some upgrades here for sure.
