As we are nearing the launch of Samsung’s upcoming flagship smartphone ” Samsung Galaxy S8 “, the rumor mill seems to have no stop, and we are fed with every detail about the smartphone on a daily basis, starting from live-images to its alleged specifications. Apart from the rumors, it now appears like the manufacturer itself wants to give us a glimpse of what the Samsung Galaxy S8 looks like.

Samsung recently released a couple of ad videos boasting their brand new AMOLED displays. At the end of the second video, a mysterious smartphone shows up, which looks more like the Galaxy S8 renders that was leaked a few days ago.

As you can notice from the image, both the smartphones look similar as they have a high body-to-screen ratio with minimal borders on top and bottom sides; and lacks a physical home button. So, it’s likely probable that the smartphone featured in the ad is the Samsung’s “Next Big Thing.”

Rumored Specifications / Features

Display

This time Samsung is expected to introduce the Galaxy S8 in two screen variants, with the regular one sporting a 5-inch display and the other device with a 6-inch display. According to rumors, the bigger one is said to be named as Galaxy S8 Plus.

The smartphones will feature a new design, with no home button, and an edge-to-edge display. While it’s obvious that the Galaxy S8 will sport a Quad-HD Super AMOLED display, the Galaxy S8 Plus could even feature a 4K display or Ultra-HD display to enhance the VR experience.

Processor and RAM

Both the smartphones are expected to be powered by the Qualcomm’s latest Snapdragon 835 SoC. The chip is manufactured using the 10nm process and integrates Adreno 540 GPU. The new processor boasts many improvements over performance and energy efficiency; thus assuring better battery life for devices.

Latest rumors suggest that the regular variant will have 6GB RAM, while the Plus variant will have a massive 8GB RAM. Samsung has also announced that it is introducing a new generation of DRAM that can support these high gigs of RAM to handle VR applications, 4K videos, and dual-cameras without any issues.

Camera

Following the iPhone 7 Plus, Samsung Galaxy S8 Plus will most likely feature a dual rear camera setup with 12MP+13MP sensors. According to a Weibo tipster, the regular Galaxy S8 variant will stick to the “traditional” single camera setup on the back, featuring a 16MP sensor. Both the smartphone is said to sport an 8MP front camera with auto focus support.

Battery

The Galaxy S8 and S8 Plus are supposed to feature 3800 mAh battery and 4000 mAh battery respectively. The new Snapdragon 835 chipset comes with Quick Charge 4.0 technology, that recharges 20% faster than the Quick Charge 3.0 technology. Just a mere 5 minutes of charging would net users 5+ hours of battery life, while 15 minutes will be enough for a 50% charge.

A new voice assistant

A close source has confirmed that Samsung is working on a new voice-powered digital assistant to replace the old S-Voice. Code-named Bixby, it will be integrated with a number of Samsung’s first-party apps and increase a user’s reliance on the Cloud storage.

Fingerprint sensor technology

The Korean manufacturer is reportedly working on placing an optical fingerprint scanner under the display of the upcoming devices, which could be the reason why it has reportedly ditched the fingerprint sensor-integrated-home button. An advantage of this new design is that the thickness of the bezel could be reduced significantly.

According to the new reports, Samsung has postponed the launch of the Galaxy S8 smartphone series to April, for achieving an initial production target of 10 million units. So, we’ll have to wait a little longer than expected to see what Samsung has in store for us. The Galaxy S8 is projected to cost around $850 (approx. Rs 58,000), while the higher variant S8 Plus will cost around $900 (approx. Rs 61,500). Stay Tuned to True-Tech for the latest Samsung Galaxy S8 news, rumors, leaks and more.
