- Samsung tri-fold smartphone is coming later this year.
- It brings three batteries on-board the tri-fold device instead of the regular dual-cell batteries.
- Apparently, this was seemingly leaked in patent designs ahead of its launch later this year.
Samsung’s tri-fold smartphone is likely inching closer to its launch. Apparently, the phone slated to arrive later this year will have three batteries as per the leaked patent designs. This could be a move to eliminate the need for a huge battery on-board, thus saving on the phone’s thickness. Here’s more about the upcoming tri-fold.
Samsung tri-fold smartphone opts for trio batteries
According to the leaked patent design, the tri-folding smartphone from Samsung, sporting three folding halves, will have a battery cell under the hood. The sketch shows how these batteries will be broken into three parts dubbed as ‘T1’, ‘T2’, and ‘T3’, in the image below.
To decipher the design, the ‘T1’ battery is the smallest and takes its place under the triple rear camera sensor. Moving on, the ‘T3’ is the second largest of the three and takes most of the central half, and finally, we have ‘T2’ taking shelter right under the cover display, and it is the largest of the trio. Both the ‘T1’ and ‘T3’ fold on the ‘T3’ and thus, we have a tri-fold mechanism here.
According to the sources, the phone could be referred to as Samsung Galaxy Z TriFold, which happens to go in-line with what the South Korean giant has been calling its Z-series phones. Unfortunately, the patent document doesn’t specify any wattage or size of the battery, and instead, we are left with assumptions. For comparison, Galaxy Z Fold7, the latest in the foldable segment, features a 4,400mAh battery paired with 25W fast charging tech.
Having a triple-cell battery on-board could also hint at having a slightly bigger battery, if not more, which happens to be a major requirement nowadays. For comparison, the Huawei Mate XT has a 5,600mAh battery, and it is a tri-fold phone as well.
