Samsung is gearing up for it’s yet another big event i.e. the launch event for Samsung Galaxy S10 early next year and we have already heard a lot about the device in plenty of leaks and rumors already. Based on the Samsung Developers Conference 2018 that took place on November 7 and 8, Samsung unveiled three new display panels namely Infinity-V, Infinity-O, and Infinity-U. Although these two pieces of information may not seem related per the reports, Samsung could rope in the Infinity-O display for its upcoming Galaxy S10.

To elaborate, the Infinity-O showcases a punch-hole cutout on the top left side on the screen where the front-facing camera will be housed and yes, there won’t be any notch. Samsung hasn’t been a fan of the notch idea yet after Apple popularized it with iPhone X and seems like Samsung will never opt for it either. Back to Galaxy S10, it will use the Infinity-O display panel with punch-hole for its front camera which is according to the patent that recently surfaced on the web.

The patent shows Samsung Galaxy S10 in different form factors including one with rounded edges and another with slightly rounded edges with a notch, curved display, etc marked with Model A, Model B to Model L monikers as of now.

We do know some more information about the upcoming smartphone which is indeed three different models bearing model numbers SM-G975F, SM-F973F, and SM-G970F where two models will share a 5.8-inch display form factor while there will be a third larger variant that will be based on Galaxy S9 Plus.

The Galaxy S10 will have a single front-facing camera (thus a single punch hole) and a triple-camera setup at the back with a standard + wide-angle + telephoto lens resembling Huawei’s P20 Pro. As per a report by Digit, the regular lens will carry a 12MP lens with dual-aperture of f/1.5 and f/2.4 and a pixel size of 1.4micrometer. Followed by a 13MP telephoto lens with 1.0micrometer pixel size and an aperture of f/2.4 with OIS and finally, the 16MP ultra-wide-angle camera will have a 123° field of view (FoV) without OIS.

The device will run on Android 9.0 Pie out-of-the-box with Samsung One UI skin that was released during SDC 2018 and will make it to the Galaxy S10 and Note 10 series early next year followed by S9 and S8 series of smartphones and Notes.

But the most exciting feature is the new Exynos 9820 that Samsung unveiled recently. The SoC is a fourth-generation custom CPU cores with Neural Processing Unit (NPU) and 2Gbps LTE Advanced Pro Modem and the entire SoC is made on an 8nm Low Power Plus (LPP) FinFET manufacturing process as opposed to the 10nm LPP process that was used in its predecessors. Finally, the new chip is expected to offer a reduced power consumption of 10% compared to the 10nm counterpart and it will run in production by the end of this year and hopefully, we will get to use it in upcoming Samsung Galaxy S10.
