We are a few weeks away from the Samsung Galaxy S10 release and it is just a matter of time until we see the much-anticipated smartphone from Samsung and how powerful it is. Although not a concrete indicator, a smartphone with model number SM-G970U which is expected to be the ‘Lite’ version of Samsung Galaxy S10 has appeared on Geekbench sporting a new Qualcomm Snapdragon 855 processor.
The database doesn’t share many details although it points out that SM-G970U which is supposedly a Samsung Galaxy S10 Lite (American version) sports a 6GB RAM and a ‘msmnile’ processor where ‘Nile’ is the code-name for newly launched Qualcomm Snapdragon 855. Further, it shows that the phone runs on Android 9 Pie which is the latest from Google while other information includes an 8-core processor with a base frequency of 1.78GHz and ARM architecture.
Although Geekbench doesn’t really indicate the performance of a device, it is still a subtle indicator where the American Samsung Galaxy S10 Lite stands at 1986 points for single-core and 6266 points for multi-core. For those who haven’t guessed it yet, the scores are average which means the software mounted on the test unit isn’t optimized yet and that Samsung will work on it to improve the scores before it launches on February 20 or later.
As of now, we know that there are at least four models of the Galaxy S10 series wherein the first is probably a standard or ‘Edge’ version with curved edges while the second will be a larger Galaxy S10 Plus. Further, we have the toned-down Samsung Galaxy S10 Lite and a 5G S10 model is in the headlines too which could materialize since Snapdragon has already launched the X50 5G modem with SDM 855 and few devices across the globe have already harnessed it such as the Xiaomi Mi Mix 3 5G and others.
Finally, we have seen the AnTuTu scores for Snapdragon 855 which has successfully surpassed all other competent processors such as the Apple A12 Bionic and the Kirin 980 chipsets while outrunning its predecessor by almost 30% or more in terms of performance.
The projected date for the release of all the Samsung Galaxy S10 models is on February 20 or February 23 depending upon which rumor you follow, however, we do know that all these smartphones will be released next month with sales starting by early March. Also, the 5G variant is expected to launch in South Korea and North America only as of now while there is an Exynos 9820 counterpart of all Galaxy S10 devices as well. Thus, we have a lot to figure out as the release date is nearing so stay tuned on True-Tech to know more.
