Galaxy S9 lineup is the next big thing for Samsung. Now that Apple has released the anniversary edition iPhone X, everyone is looking forward to what Samsung has kept in store for its users.

If you send a look at the historic chain of the releases of the S-series devices, you will find out that they happened mostly in February or March. For the same reason, we hope the South Korean tech giant will release the Galaxy S9 in March 2018.

Everything You Need to Know about the Galaxy S9 and S9 Plus

The first thing that sought attention on the S8 series was the Infinity display. Samsung kept the same screen-profile on the Note 8 too, but with some minor differences. Will S9 bring some exclusive features with it? Let’s analyse now on the basis of the available resources and speculations.

Processor

You know what Samsung opts for. We don’t think they will surpass Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 to choose another one. Along with the 845, they might also release an Exynos (9810) variant as well. We have seen them doing the same in the past too.

Snapdragon 845 is a powerful chipset which includes an LTE modem of 1.2 Gbps downloading speed. It also allows phones to record 4K videos at 60 frames per second.

Despite the latest processor, chances are slim for Samsung to upgrade the RAM capacity. We might see the same 4 GB RAM with the Galaxy S9.

Dual Rear Cameras

Samsung was a tortoise in the dual camera segment. They lagged behind iPhone 7 Plus and LG G6 to come up with a dual-camera setup on Note 8. Everybody expected the company to include two rear cameras on the S8 but it didn’t happen.

You know there is no scarcity for rumours in the tech arena. Some say only the S9 Plus will have a dual camera setup. While the others say the device might sport a sensor with variable aperture, which adjusts its value depending on the availability of ambient lighting conditions.

It is unclear about the sensor sizes Samsung uses on the S9. However, some speculations suggest they would implement a 3D face scanning technology with the front camera, which we anticipate will take on Apple’s Face ID.

Design and Display

Chances are less for Samsung to opt for a significant design change. They will retain the same design and display from S8. What we expect them to do is embedding a fingerprint scanner below the display. Recently, the news came out OnePlus is also taking under-glass fingerprint sensors seriously. We just have to wait and see who releases the technology first.

We hope Samsung won’t ditch the headphone jack provided it still is the favourite way to listen to music for many.

Operating System

You guessed it! How can a flagship smartphone get released without the latest operating system? Samsung will launch the Galaxy S9 with Android Oreo. Yeah, we are confident about that.

Battery

We didn’t hear much about the battery capacity on the upcoming Galaxy S9. What we heard is they might go with PCB tech, which allows the Exynos chipset manufacturers to include a bigger battery without increasing the size of the processor. So, you may not get a bigger battery on the Snapdragon variant.

We are hearing a lot about the possible specifications of S9. It is a possibility to get stereo speakers and even free headsets (from AKG).

Release Date

Taking the company’s history of releasing S-series devices into consideration, we are certain that they will launch the Galaxy S9 in early 2018, most probably, in March.

What about pricing? Well, iPhone X costs a $999. We won’t get surprised if Samsung puts the same price tag on the Galaxy S9.
