Samsung Safety Trucks improve safety in road traffic!
Last year in June, smartphone-OEM Samsung announced a new idea: They wanted to put screens on the back of semi-trucks for the cars driving behind to be able to “see through” the truck, through showing the view of a front camera on the truck. According to this blog post, they finished a first prototype in cooperation with Leo Burnett, Helvetica and Volvo Trucks. They promise that “Samsung Safety Trucks” would hit the roads later in 2016.
The screen on the prototype’s back consists of four full HD OH46D displays, showing an image captured by two cameras attached to the front. The displays are water- and dust-proof at a level of IP56. The problem of visibility under direct sunlight was fixed as well.
