We know that the Coronavirus pandemic, also known as Covid-19, has wreaked havoc worldwide. As the name suggests, this pandemic started in 2019, but it was in December 2019.
As you might have realized, CES 2020 was organized in early January 2020, and as it turned out, the show was to blame for being a super-spreader event circulating the virus worldwide.
Therefore, CES 2021 was canceled, and there was no in-person event this year as the MWC was also canceled.
However, we know that vaccines for the virus were developed, and everyone started taking them, so the threat of the virus subsided quite a lot recently.
But a new variant of this virus has been found in the last month named Omicron, which is bringing back the fear since the vaccines are also not working on it.
Therefore, the CES 2022 event, which is scheduled to be an in-person event organized from January 5-8, 2022, looks set to be canceled.
We say this also because major companies have started to back out of it. Talking about these companies, we know that Meta, Amazon, T-Mobile (the main sponsor), and others have said that they will not participate.
CES UPDATE: After closely monitoring the current trends surrounding COVID, it is in the best interest of the health and safety of our employees, customers, partners, and our communities to suspend all on-site activity in Las Vegas.

The latest company to announce their decision not to participate has been Lenovo, which has said that the threat is far more prominent, so they will not attend the event.
Amidst all this, CES 2022 organizers have said that they are still going ahead with their initial plans and that the event will be organized as scheduled.
They have also added that the companies that have decided not to participate make up 8% of the participating companies.
In other words, the organizers say they don’t care about who is not coming, but they will go ahead with the show.
But we will still have to wait and watch how the situation pans out because the COVID-19 cases are increasing in the US and UK, and there might be a situation of lockdown in some places.
