- Xiaomi 15 Series tipped to get a fixed focus 50MP rear triple camera.
- Xiaomi is integrating a new battery tech with a 5,500mAh capacity without increasing the size and weight.
- Xiaomi 15 Series is all set to launch sometime in October with Snapdragon 8 Gen 4 - the first-ever in the world.
Xiaomi 15 Series is well on its way to becoming the first flagship to host Qualcomm’s upcoming & flagship chipset — the Snapdragon 8 Gen 4. There’s more information coming in from China suggesting that the Xiaomi 15 Pro will probably ditch a variable aperture on the main cam and replace it with a fixed one.
Xiaomi 15 Series changes the camera language
The beat comes from tipster Digital Chat Station (DCS) whose reputation precedes him. The leak posted on the Chinese networking platform Weibo maintains the Xiaomi 15 Pro to ditch variable aperture. This is a feature that allows cameras to adjust exposure based on the particular scene giving excellent shots on the go. With a fixed one, that doesn’t happen and instead, you get a fixed exposure window to capture the subject in the scene. Even though the latter isn’t that bad, having a variable aperture would have been great since it is a flagship device we are talking about.
DCS mentions a 50MP primary camera onboard the Xiaomi 15 Pro with a large aperture (at least that is great). There’s a 50MP 3x telephoto cam on board as well. There’s no mention of an ultrawide shooter although we are likely to see a 50MP shooter under an ultrawide-angle lens as well.
A new battery tech, a new life
The battery is undoubtedly the most crucial asset on any smartphone. Luckily, the Xiaomi 15 series won’t let you down, and not that it has ever let you down in terms of backup. With the upcoming series, the Chinese smartphone maker is switching to a silicon-carbon negative electrode battery. It promises better results than graphite-laden lithium-ion batteries allowing the makers to squeeze in a higher density of battery without many changes in terms of size.

We could see a 5,500mAh battery onboard the Xiaomi 15 Pro that will outperform the Xiaomi 14 Pro’s battery by approx 600mAh while keeping the overall weight under 200g. Note that the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold5 is over 200g and feels much like you are holding two phones stacked together. Luckily, that’s not the case with the Xiaomi 15 Pro if these leaks are to be believed.
Xiaomi 15 Series is set to launch sometime in October probably after Qualcomm launches the Snapdragon 8 Gen 4 SoC around the same time.
