Xiaomi recently launched their flagship device of the year in China. Alongside Xiaomi Mi 8, we saw an Explorer Edition and Mi 8 SE. Xiaomi Mi 8 SE, in spite of being the smaller variant of Mi 8, quickly gained popularity in the home country. Apart from the smartphones, Xiaomi also revealed their latest budget fitness band Mi Band 3 and a standalone VR.
Looking at the popularity of Mi 8 SE in China, the smartphone maker might announce this device in India as soon as in the next month. Well, a recent report by Beebom suggests the same. As per the report, Xiaomi is planning to launch the Mi 8 SE alongside Mi Band 3 in the next month. According to the source from a retail network, Xiaomi Mi 8 SE will make its way to the Indian market as Mi 8i, the ‘i’ here indicates India. Apart from that, many official urls of the device refer to it as Mi 8i.

To recall the specs, Xiaomi Mi 8 SE comes with 5.88-inch Full HD+ AMOLED display with a notch at the front. The device is powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon 710 SoC making it first device to come with this chipset. The smartphone comes in two variants – 4GB of RAM and 6GB of RAM both accompanied by a 64GB of onboard storage.
When it comes to optics, Mi 8SE (or Xiaomi Mi 8i) sports a dual camera setup at the back having a 12-MP and 5-MP sensor. There is a 20-megapixel selfie shooter at the front. Both the front as well as rear cameras support AI capabilities like AI Beautify. Apart from that, the device runs on the latest version of Android 8.1 Oreo layered with the latest MIUI 10 on top and has a 3,120 mAh battery.
Coming to the pricing, the report suggested that the device might be priced somewhere between Rs 18,000 to Rs 20,000. This Indian pricing will be very close the Chinese one with the RMB 1,799 (approx Rs 19,000). Similarly, Mi Band 3 will also be priced closely to Chinese pricing. The standard version is priced at which is RMB 169 (approx Rs 1,800) while the NFC supported variant costs RMB 199 (approx Rs 2,100).
It is worth noting that the Chinese smartphone maker didn’t launch their previous flagship smartphone in the Indian market. For now, there are no claims supporting the launch of Xiaomi Mi 8 in the country.
