The HTC One M8, the last years high-end smartphone from HTC, has got the update to Android 5.0 Lollipop. But, when you’re looking to the software of the One M9. It is running Android 5.0 Lollipop with Sense 7, but the HTC One M8 is still running the last years Sense 6 interface. But, if we can believe HTC USA, the One M8 will receive the Sense 7 interface with the next update.
Sense 7 for the HTC One M8
At the end of January HTC started the roll-out of the Android 5.0 Lollipop update for the HTC One M8. The update included a slightly updated version of Sense 6, but it still wasn’t Sense 7. The new version of the interface was introduced together with the introduction of the HTC One M9, after the start of the roll-out of the Android 5.0 Lollipop update for the One M8 in January.
The HTC Sense 7 interface introduces a wider support for themes and a widget on the home screen which automatically shows applications on base of your location and time. When you’re at work, it will show work-related applications. In a tweet from Mo Versi, is standing that the HTC One M8 will receive the new interface in the next update.
The new amount of features that will come with the update won’t be as big as you would expect. HTC already updated a few HTC application in the Google Play Store which are standing on the HTC One M7 and M8. With those updates the new home screen already came to the devices and a part of the theme support.
According to @LlabTooFeR, a developer which has loads of inside information about HTC software, the smartphones which now have Android 5.0 Lollipop wouldn’t receive Sense 7. He is saying that the Sense 7 interface update will come with the update to Android 5.1 Lollipop. If we can believe the information the HTC One M8, HTC Desire Eye and the HTC One M8s will receive the Sense 7 interface update.
Availability
When the HTC One M8 will receive the update is still unknown. When the rumours are correct, the new HTC Sense 7 interface won’t come the HTC One M7, which won’t get the update to Android 5.1 Lollipop.
