Live Cases for Nexus Devices launched by Google, exclusively through MKBHD

Just a while ago, MKBHD (Marques Brownlee), probably the best tech reviewer on this planet, dropped a video on his channel about Google’s new project – Live Cases. Google planned to launch these exclusively through MKBHD’s channel. Before you jump to any conclusions, the cases aren’t any animated or do not have any correlation with ‘Live Photos’ or any such service, it’s a Nexus case that you can customise to the horizon using a WYSIWYG type of online editor tool, similar to the Moto Maker.

“…If you have a Nexus 6P or a Nexus 5X then this is the case that you can get made for your phone. Now it’s a little bit of an interesting process, Google has decided to share with me so I’m gonna turn around and share it right back with you…”

All that aside, let’s get to how the ‘Live Cases’ service works. There are tons of possibilities to design your personal case through this service, you can use your own photos, a photo of your location (city, country etc) or a Google Maps image of the same. Obviously, it just doesn’t end here, the attractive and amazing effects for further modifying the image or the map make it almost look like a case of your dreams.

Of course the design’s on board as it is based on your choice, it likewise carries a smidgen of protection with it. The case does protect the sides, screen and the rest, by providing simple extension above the glass and the sides, just in case you’re that phone-drop guy/gal. Talking of the sides though, the button cutouts are accurate along with a tiny bit of the material stretching out around into ensure the safety of the buttons too.

What else? The case brings a small and unique extra feature, an NFC based button that let’s you set a few quick toggles or shortcuts to apps or actions. So if you’re a camera fanatic,  now this is your approach, press and hold the button for a moment and boom, your camera app is directly before you. For setting these straightforward shortcuts up, you’ll need an app from the play store, which you can easily get by pressing the button for the first time after connecting it with your phone.

This is a very unique case, adding onto just another manner to make your phone or gadget look even more personal, even more of your own! What are your thoughts?
