If you thought OnePlus Z was just a rumor, think again. According to a lead on the device, it is expected to arrive in July. Leakster Max J tweeted a sketch of an OnePlus device with ‘Z’ engraved on the display and ‘July’, ‘2020’ written on the left and right sides of the phone respectively. Now, it won’t require a rocket science degree that a so-called OnePlus Z could arrive in July 2020.

The story is credible since it comes from a well-known leakster who goes by the name Max J. He was credited with a series of leaks on the OnePlus 8 and 8 Pro that were released during a digital-only launch event on April 14 leaving those expecting the OnePlus Z in peril. He was the one who confirmed that the OnePlus 8 series will support wireless charging so the story does make sense.

OnePlus Z or OnePlus 8 Lite is as the name suggests, an affordable variant of the OnePlus 8 series. There are a few changes that the phone is speculated to arrive with such as a centrally-placed punch hole camera cut-out at the front. Flip the phone and you’ll see a triple camera setup affixed on the top-left corner of the device, unlike its siblings that had a centrally-placed rear camera setup.

Apparently, the Chinese smartphone maker is expected to keep the moniker as OnePlus Z. Although the reason behind the moniker remains unavailable, it is doubted that it could be an homage to the yesteryear’s affordable OnePlus X.

One of the crucial bit of information that we found out which could be true is that it will be OnePlus first non-Snapdragon device. Yep, OnePlus Z is speculated to arrive with MediaTek Dimensity 1000L SoC with 5G. If not, it could arrive with Snapdragon 765G which boasts 5G capability as well.

We don’t know much about the device yet but there are few details that are doing the rounds of the rumor mill. The device is expected to arrive with a 6.4-inch or 6.5-inch flat FHD+ display. It will be a fluid AMOLED panel with a 90Hz refresh rate which could be true since OnePlus made it official that future OnePlus devices will have fluid AMOLED panels while 90Hz refresh rate is also going to be a norm as the company excused using regular 60Hz panels on its phones.

The affordable mid-range OnePlus Z is expected in July 2020 and we are just a couple of weeks away so it will be thrilling to see how things unfold.
