Huawei P40 4G announced with Kirin 990 4G SoC, 50MP triple camera at $617 in China

Huawei will soon unveil the Huawei P50 series, however, this hasn’t stopped the Chinese smartphone manufacturer from releasing a new phone in its P40 series. Dubbed as Huawei P40 4G, the device is almost similar to P40 5G but with a Kirin 990 4G chipset and no 5G on-board,

Talking about the specifications, the Huawei P40 4G sports a 6.1-inch OLED panel with FHD+ resolution. A pill-shaped notch on the top left corner of the display marks the spot for a dual front camera consisting of a 32MP sensor and a 3D ToF sensor. The rear, on the other hand, sports a vertically stacked triple camera setup in a rectangular camera bump. It houses a 50MP primary sensor which has a 1/1.28-inch sensor size, it is tied along with 16MP ultrawide and an 8MP telephoto sensor on-board where the latter is capable of snapping photos with 3x optical zoom.

It has an in-house HiSilicon Kirin 990 4G chipset under the hood along with 8GB RAM and 128GB storage configuration. There’s also NM card support which is proprietary memory storage for Huawei devices. Proceeding further, we get a decently large-sized 3,800 mAh battery under the hood with a 22.5W fast charging support that should charge the battery in less than an hour.

Huawei has made the P40 4G IP53 splash resistant which adds to its “pros” along with the chipset and other changes. The device supports Dual 4G SIM VoLTE support and thanks to the courtesy of an OLED panel, it houses an in-display fingerprint scanner as well for lightning-fast authentication.

The device supports Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n/ac/ax (Wi-Fi 6) and supports GPS navigation systems including QZSS, Galileo, Beidou, Glonass, NavIC, GPS, and A-GPS.

Talking about the pricing, the device is announced in China at a price tag of 3,988 Yuan which is equivalent to $617 and it is already up for grab at JD.com. You can choose from its Frost Silver and Dark Blue color variants.
