At the terminus of the last month, Samsung unveiled their new S series flagships – the Samsung Galaxy S8 and the Samsung Galaxy S8 Plus worldwide, in the official Unpacked 2017 event. The Galaxy flagships this year portray Samsung’s prominent focus on design and user experience, beholding the robustness through a robust spec sheet. And today, 19th April 2017, Samsung officially debuts the phones to the Indian market at New Delhi.

Samsung Galaxy S8 Launch India

The Samsung Galaxy S8 and the S8 Plus sport a metal and glass design which feels seamless all around, due to the curved back and front glass panels that look gorgeous. The Galaxy S8 packs a Super AMOLED 5.8-inch display, rendering a resolution of 1440×2960. On the other hand, the Galaxy S8 Plus sports a larger 6.2-inch Super AMOLED display with the same resolution. Both the phones sport a curved edge screen that lays flush against the sides, diminishing bezels to a level where they aren’t at all visible.

The phone remains precisely the same as the internationally announced version, except for a few small changes from within. In other parts of the world, the Samsung Galaxy S8 and the S8 Plus sport the Snapdragon 835 chipset which is manufactured on the basis of 10nm, providing a surge in the performance capability. On the contrary, the Indian version comes with Samsung’s own Exynos 8895 chipset, which is certain scenarios, seems to overpower the Snapdragon 835, in terms of performance. Apart from the chipset, the phones are backed by 4GB of RAM, which on Samsung’s optimizations, are said to render excellent performance.

Samsung Galaxy S8 Launch India Hands On TrueTech

Coming to the battery capacity, the Samsung Galaxy S8 will come with a 3,000 mAh battery on board, and the S8 Plus will pack a 3,500 mAh one. Samsung has learned the lessons of cramming larger batteries and trying to slim down the phone beyond limits. Lastly, the Samsung Galaxy S8 and S8 Plus will feature a single 12-megapixel camera sensor, the same one from the Samsung Galaxy S7 and the S7 Edge, but with a few image processing improvements. The front-facing camera features an 8-megapixel sensor and carries a few new selfie filters and masks like Snapchat.

Out of the box, the Indian variants of the phones are also supposed to run Bixby, which is Samsung’s own digital assistant, although it was entirely unexpected. Bixby, however, is still just an imprint of the Google Assistant but with certain additional tricks up its sleeves. On top of that, the in-box AKG earphones also make their way to India as well, along with the new Gear VR, Gear 360, and the DeX module.

The Samsung Galaxy S8 and S8 Plus are priced at Rs.57,900 and Rs,64,900 respectively, for the 64GB variant, and will be available for purchase on Flipkart.com and offline stores, with pre-orders commencing today itself.
