Apple’s next-gen iPhone launch is probably around the corner. We got the latest update in terms of iPhone 17e specs, bringing it closer to iPhone 17 using the same chipset with MagSafe charging tech. Here’s what the latest buzz is about as you might prepare to take on the upcoming affordable iPhone.
iPhone 17e specs leaks again, this time with A19 SoC
According to Mark Gurman of Bloomberg in his Power On newsletter, iPhone 17e is expected to be powered by an Apple A19 SoC. This is a 3nm chipset fabbed with a hexa-core CPU architecture operating at a maximum frequency of 4.26GHz and a 5-core GPU. What’s interesting is that this is the same chipset we saw on board the iPhone 17 released last year, after the iPhone 17e ultimately formed a close-knit bond with the entire iPhone 17 series.
Moving on, the iPhone 17e price has been rumored a lot over the past few weeks. The latest from Gurman points out a price tag of $599. For the unversed, this is the same price tag as on the iPhone 16e, and we can’t be more excited given the much-needed upgrade, i.e., the A19 SoC, without changing the price tag, is a big thing.
Moreover, the upcoming affordable iPhone is likely to bring improved wireless chipsets such as Apple C1X and a new N1 chip. This will transform how buyers see iPhone 17e, as it has just become more lucrative than ever.
The final piece of the puzzle is the MagSafe charging that the iPhone 17e is likely to bring to the table. For the unversed, the iPhone 16e does have fast charging tech but not MagSafe. On the other hand, the iPhone 17 has a 25W Qi2 and MagSafe charging tech, and that’s pretty much what the iPhone 17e will bring aboard.
All in all, Apple is promising a flagship-level performance upgrade at the price tag of an entry-level iPhone. For context, iPhone 17 retails for $799 for its entry-level variant. This would put iPhone 17e below iPhone 17 in terms of price tag, although you can expect similar performance if the build quality and camera tech are excluded for a second.
