After much of rumors and whatnot, Google Pixel 10a is finally out. It uses the same chipset as Pixel 9a, possibly a measure to cut costs compared to Pixel 10’s Tensor G5 SoC. There’s faster charging tech, better screen protection, and a ton of new AI features that make Pixel 10a a much better purchase option for budget buyers.
Google Pixel 10a is more recycled than ever
Google officially launched the Pixel 10a on Wednesday, and it has a ton of AI features on-board. The phone, to arrive with the most recycled materials of any Pixel, uses 100% recycled aluminum, with a 100% plastic-free packaging, and uses recycled rare earth metals such as tungsten, gold, copper, and cobalt in its construction.
Google Pixel 10a rolls out with Tensor G4 SoC
Google Pixel 10a is here, and it has a Tensor G4 SoC. For the unversed, this is the same chipset as the Pixel 9a and the entire Pixel 9 series. This chipset itself is fabbed by Samsung on a 4nm node. The phone comes with 128GB and 256GB of storage variants and 8GB of RAM, and that could be location-specific. Although I would have argued why Pixel 10a should have used Tensor G5 SoC instead, that would inflate the price tag on the phone, so I rest my case here.
On the software front, Pixel 10a greets you with Android 16 under the hood, paired with a promise – seven years of software updates and Pixel Drops that bring new features on-board Pixel devices. We will talk about that in a minute.
Coming back to the specs, the Pixel 10a comes with IP68 dust and water resistance. There’s Gorilla Glass 7i on top for screen protection that can survive 1m of fall. The phone, in its construction, uses 81% recycled plastic for its ‘plastic back’. On the front, we have a 6.3” Actua P-OLED panel that illuminates at 3,000 nits of peak brightness, up from 2,700 nits on the previous iteration.
The phone brings a 48MP primary plus 13MP ultra-wide dual rear camera setup. We have a 13MP front camera setup. On the battery front, Google decided not to change the capacity on the 10a, so we get a 5,100mAh battery worth 30 hours of regular usage, but of course, this is subjective. It comes paired with 30W charging tech, a jump from 23W on the Pixel 9a. In fact, the wireless charging capability took a hike too, from 7.5W to 10W.
Breaking the barrier with AI features
Google Pixel 10a AI features are abundant, to be exact. The Auto Best Take feature takes care of snapping photos of a group where it could be difficult to get everyone looking presentable in a single shot. Camera Coach, another AI feature, uses Gemini to analyze scenes and offers tips to take better shots.
Gemini Live is a feature that lets you enter into a free-flowing conversation with Google’s AI, aka Gemini. It has a Connected Apps feature where Gemini will be able to control apps connected to it to perform functions such as set up alarms, snap photos, play music, call any contact, and more.
Google Pixel 10a brings Magic Compose, an AI feature that helps you with writing a reply using different styles and tones, to master the skills. The Pixel Weather app takes the Gemini Nano model as its backing to analyze today’s weather and let you know what to expect. There’s Call Assist, photo editing tools using AI, Circle to Search, among other AI features, to name a few.

Google Pixel 10a is available in four major colors, i.e., Berry, Obsidian, Fog, and Lavender. The search engine giant chose almost identical colors to Pixel 9a, except replacing Porcelain with Fog; however, it is hard to say.
About Google Pixel 10a price in India, the phone retails for INR 50,000/- for the base 8GB+128GB (the same as last year). You can avail up to INR 3,000 of exchange bus among other benefits. The phone will be available in India from March 6. In the US, the phone retails for $499 for the base and $599 for the 256GB variant. In the UK, the pricing is GBP499 and GBP599, respectively. In the EU, Pixel 10a retails for EUR550 for the base and EUR650 for the storage upgrade.
