- Huawei is working on Mate 90 Series touted to arrive as early as October this year.
- Turns out the phone will feature a 10x optical zoom on its 200MP primary snapper.
- There's also a dual telephoto snapper that can go a max 6.2x optical zoom.
The Huawei Mate 90 series launch is happening sometime in October, and we have started hearing about it a lot. Recently, a reputed tipster shared details about a dual telephoto camera setup on board the Mate 90 Pro Max in the works, a 200MP primary snapper across the series, taking it much closer to the Huawei Pura 90 Pro Max. Here’s what we know about the developments so far.
Huawei Mate 90 Pro Max tipped to feature dual telephoto cameras
According to Smart Pikachu, a prolific tipster on China’s Weibo, the Huawei Mate 90 Pro Max will bring on board a dual telephoto camera setup. Here, one of the cameras will feature a 10x optical zoom, unleashing the next generation of mobile photography.
Additionally, these telephoto shooters will be akin to the Mate 90 Pro Max that we got our hands on in November last year. The phone currently has a 50MP periscope telephoto snapper with OIS and 4x optical zoom, while the second periscope telephoto shooter maxes it to 6.2x optical zoom with OIS.
There’s a lot of buzz around the Huawei Mate 90 series camera setup. We have heard about a 200MP primary cam that will be common across the Mate 90 series, i.e., both standard and Pro models. Huawei could be opting for a giant 1-inch sensor for its primary 200MP cams, if it’s true. Overall, the mobile photography expectations are soon to breach and screech through at a lightning-fast pace.
Nevertheless, this is a departure from current pro-only 200MP shooters. However, we are still a few months away from the Huawei Mate 90 series happening in October, most probably entering a hyper-competitive market with Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 6-powered phones. This is still a month early from the Huawei Mate 80 Pro Max launch that happened in November 2025 with a dual 50MP telephoto cam at 4x and 6.2x optical zoom.
