  • Apple iPhone Ultra Fold dummy shows up on a video right after its images went viral.
  • The video shows the phone from all angles including it's iPhone Air-like camera island.
  • The video raises some questions on how the phone actually looks compared to its competitors such as Galaxy Z Fold7.

After images of the purported Apple iPhone Ultra Fold went viral, we are now greeted with a video coming from a Chinese factory showing off the phone from all angles.

Apple iPhone Ultra dummy showcases design of the upcoming fold

Albeit this is a dummy unit, tipster Majin Bu posted a video on his X account titled “iPhone fold dummy,” revealing the upcoming fold from all angles. Previous reports mentioned the phone will be 4.5mm in thickness when opened, and the video does justice to that. Of course, Apple doesn’t count the thickness of camera islands when talking about the overall thickness, and thus, we have a 4.5mm thickness in the picture.

The camera island seems like someone copied and pasted the iPhone Air’s to the Fold Ultra. It doesn’t look good, though, and there are chances that Apple may elongate the island to cover the entire breadth of that rear panel. Of course, nothing has been officially confirmed yet.

Talking about the colors, the iPhone Ultra Fold dummy shows up clad in white panels and silver frame/sides. It seems Apple wants to stick to safer color options for the Fold, given it’s the foldable launch from the Cupertino giant. We could see a black/gray color option coming as well as a safer bet.

Talking about the design, I personally feel Apple could’ve done better. Apple is planning to ship the iPhone Ultra Fold as a phone with a book-style display that feels wholesome. However, when folded, the phone looks too bulky and short in height compared to the Galaxy Z Fold7, which is both taller and narrower. Galaxy foldable phones feel like you are holding two phones stacked when folded, whereas the iPhone Fold Ultra will appear as two super broad BlackBerry-like devices stacked.

iPhone Ultra Fold specs (rumored)

The iPhone Fold is expected to arrive in September 2026 alongside the iPhone 18 Pro series. It will be a part of a staggered rollout, as per reports. The phone has a 5.5” cover plus a 7.8” OLED panel. There’s an A20 Pro SoC based on a 2nm node from TSMC and 12GB RAM.

The phone is built with a titanium and aluminum frame and with a purported crease-free hinge design, although it remains to be seen just how effective it is. Finally, we have an expected price of around $2,000, which is around the same as that of the Galaxy Z Fold7, which happens to be the 8th-gen foldable phone from Samsung.
