Vivo has confirmed that the Vivo X Fold6 will be powered by the Dimensity 9500 Super Edition SoC with its impeccable AI performance. This will be the first time for the Dimensity 9500 Super SoC to appear on a phone, with a great emphasis given on foldables and AI performance; more on that in the following story.
Vivo confirms Dimensity 9500 Super SoC for AI dominance
The Chinese smartphone maker confirmed the Dimensity 9500 Super SoC for the upcoming Vivo X Fold6 launching later this month. It marks the first-ever launch for the Super SoC, which was reportedly in the making for the last two years as a joint venture between Vivo and MediaTek.
The Dimensity 9500 Super Edition SoC is not a traditional flagship Dimensity 9500 SoC but rather something made especially for foldable phones. The chipset guarantees superior performance, multi-tasking, and multi-rendering capabilities, given that people have started using foldable phones as portable desktop devices. Since there’s a heavy demand for performance, the chipset works in ways unmatched to help achieve such a caliber that makes tasks on a large screen effortless.
The Vivo X Fold6’s Dimensity 9500 Super Edition SoC reportedly enhanced AI processing performance by 111% compared to its last-gen SoC. There’s also a 56% reduction in power consumption, which means the chipset is able to do a lot of heavy lifting without burning much gas. A newly developed AI voice engine on board reportedly delivers 7x offline transcription speeds with a high recognition accuracy.
Moving on, we have something called Parallel Mode under the Atomic Workbench experience, which is a new concurrency engine capable of running multiple apps at once, ensuring smoother switching between windows and file-dragging. This will be a part of OriginOS 6, which has been refined to be more responsive on foldable devices.
Vivo X Fold6 specs at a glance
The Vivo X Fold6 is speculated to debut with a 200MP primary snapper, a 50MP periscope lens plus a 50MP ultra-wide snapper, the Dimensity 9500 Super Edition under the hood, and a 6,900 to 7,000mAh battery to power it all. Since the phone will be deep into AI, we can expect a ton of AI features on board supported by the Dimensity chipset itself.
